As the dance music calendar gets under way with Miami Music Week and Ultra Music Festival this weekend 7UP has unveiled its new commercial pitched towards generation x starring Martin Garrix and Tiësto. The duo uses the opportunity to premiere their new single "The Only Way It Up" (could the name be an ode to the brand). The commercial starts with Garrix and Tiësto sitting side-by-side in a trailer, talking about how each one of them has been an influence on the other and presumably listening to the track through Tiësto's headphones on a laptop. They are ejected out into a desert outside of Las Vegas with absolutely nothing around, but that is soon going to change. -
Diplo, Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant Announce Collaboration On Instagram: How Will Fans React?
Whoa... we did not see this one coming at all. This collaboration came deep out of the Wrigley Field ivy in left field, According to an Instagram post by Diplo with a selfie of him and the Led Zeppelin legend, Robert Plant, the pair are collaborating on something. The caption simply says "collab coming soon" so it isn't clear what they are working on or who it is for - it could be basic production work for a new Plant song, or Robert could be laying down some vocals for a new Diplo track. -
'High Minded' and Low Bass: Tim Storms, Saint-Saëns and Enya Get Lower Than Hip-Hop and Dubstep Ever Could
Bass gets a bad rap in music, usually seen as a destroyer of stereos or a noise complaint to the police waiting to happen. Two clever engineering students at George Mason University used the power of sub-bass to their advantage however, channeling its waves into an experimental rendition of fire extinguisher, using the low audio waves to put out fires. They weren't the first to incorporate sub-bass in a "high-minded" way. Hector Berlioz, Camille Saint-Saens and Enya are among our examples. -
