    Keith Urban used to play New Year's Eve every year, but he has skipped out on the task since marrying actress Nicole Kidman in 2006."I've certainly had a few where it's been just us with family, or just Nic and I," Urban told "The Vancouver Sun," via CMT. "We've had a couple of those. Actually, probably, I wonder since I've been married I haven't worked on New Year's Eve? I think that's probably right."The 47-year-old is finally returning to the stage as the ball drops this Dec. 31. The event? ET Canada's New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls, roughly four hours from Times Square and America's biggest NYE spectacle.Canada will have plenty of star power, though. Nick Jonas, Lights and Shawn Mendes round out the bill."We love 'Jealous,' the new Nick Jonas single," Urban said. "Like, totally love that song. I think my wife turned me onto that one recently. Shawn Mendes, I don't know. So that'll be a first for me."

"It was only after the film was released that we became aware of the song's unauthorized use, without taking the appropriate and necessary steps to complete a contract with the artists."THR reports roughly 10 to 15 seconds of the song appear in the movie.From NME: "The press release also noted the subject matter of the film — which stars Seth Rogen and James Franco and follows two American journalists recruited to kill Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea — stating, 'The artists were also hesitant about authorizing the use of the music, as the film is a very sensitive topic in Korea, so they are very surprised.'"

    Buddy DeFranco, one of the world's greatest jazz clarinetists, died Wednesday, Dec. 24. He leaves behind a musical legacy that lasted more than 70 years, playing in bands led by Tommy Dorsey and Count Basie in addition to performing with Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra. DeFranco was 91.The musician got his start in the late 1930s, bouncing around from band to band, NPR noted. He hooked up with Dorsey in 1944. DeFranco played with the band for four years before he decided to break out of swing music, opting instead for bebop, a difficult genre for a clarinetist to shine in. He toured with Basie to finish out the 1940s.DeFranco formed his own band in the '50s before joining Holiday for a European jaunt. As rock 'n' roll started gaining momentum, the musician did work for TV and film until he landed a gig fronting the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1966. He continued to play well into his 80s. According to "The Washington Post," DeFranco played on more than 160 albums.
