    Sia has once again floored us with her impressive vocal talents. She took on the classic 1965 single "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas & The Papas for the soundtrack to the upcoming film San Andreas. Her take trades in the slow-burning folk sound for a version backed by haunting orchestral instrumentals, complete with choir. The second verse speeds things up with a hard-driving drum machine and other layered production elements that takes you through the rest of the song.

    Good Kid Proud City. Kendrick Lamar was honored yesterday by the California State Senate, who named him the 35th Senate Districts Generational Icon. Fellow Compton native Senator Isadore Hall III presented Lamar with the honor and praised his rise from local rapper to global star. He commended his continued ties to his neighborhood and contributions to helping keep kids in school and off the streets.

Late last night, the rapper posted to Instagram another black-and-white cover image, which features his face with Yams' birthmark in purple over it.

The sessions feature Cyrus teaming with another artist for a special performance straight from the Bangerz singer's backyard. So far she's performed "Different" with Joan Jett and a solo cover of Dido's "No Freedom" in honor of late transgender teen Leelah Alcorn. Now she's again enlisted Jett along with Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace for a cover of The Replacements' "Androgynous."

    Kanye West and Damon Dash have teamed up for a new entrepreneurial venture: film. As previously reported they already worked on the film Loisaidas together, and now they are set to executive produce the film Too Honorable, an action-packed shoot 'em up flick featuring Cam'ron, Styles P, Smoke DZA, Eishia Brightwell, Julito McCullum, Nicholas Turturro, Daniel Jenkins, Michael Rispoli, Smokey Suarez, Oschino Vasquez, and Murda Mook. Dash also acts and directs in the film, and his cousin Stacey Dash (Clueless) also has a featured role. The movie will hit theaters on May 25, although it's unclear whether it will receive a limited or wide release. You check can out the trailer below.
