  • Green Day, Mike Dirnt: ‘American Idiot’ Bassist Will Produce Indie Film 'Crickets', Billie Joe Armstrong & Tré Cool Taking It Easy

    Bassist Mike Dirnt has done a lot of things as a core member of the punk rock group Green Day – alongside frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and drummer Tré Cool – but now he’s venturing off to a new project for just a little while. Reports from Billboard state that Dirnt will produce the upcoming indie flick Crickets.

    Phil Everly passed away Jan. 3 after complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was a longtime smoker. The Everly Brothers made a huge pack on the industry, specifically with their tight-knit harmonies that influenced many other artists today, including Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones who released the tribute album Foreverly in November.

    As we have recently reported, jazz star Norah Jones has teamed up with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong to pay homage to the Everly Brothers and the 1958 album, Songs Our Daddy Taught Us. They have thoughtfully named their version Foreverly.
