Last year, HBO purchased the distribution rights at SXSW to Mavis!, a new documentary about the life, career and struggles of Civil-Rights activists and Soul/R&B singer Mavis Staples. This week, we got to watch the first trailer for the TV movie, which features some great archival live and recording footage of the performer as well as interviews with other artists. Joan Baez is launching an 18-city North American tour with a concert celebrating the legendary folk singer-songwriter and social activist's 75th birthday and 55 year-long career. The folk pioneer has announced that she's added Paul Simon and Mavis Staples to the stacked lineup of special guests joining her on stage at New York City's Beacon Theatre on January 27th. -

Mavis Staples to Play Glastonbury Festival: Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac and AC/DC Still Possible Headliners
According to various reports, Mavis Staples will be playing the Glastonbury Festival in June. Organizers for the event have yet to confirm the news, though, which means that plenty of other acts are still in the running to headline. NME and William Hill have been keeping odds for possible headliners and right now the Foo Fighters top the list followed by Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC and Muse. -
Lady Gaga, "The Boss," Usher Perform for Sting, Al Green at '14's Kennedy Center Honors
Sting, Al Green and Tom Hanks were among some of the artists who received recognition at last night's Kennedy Center Honors ceremony Dec. 7. The 2014 class also included ballerina Patricia McBride and comedian Lily Tomlin. Earth, Wind & Fire, Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Mavis Staples performed a few of Green's hits, while Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen celebrated Sting. According to "USA Today's" coverage, Stephen Colbert opened the show by taking a respectful jab at politics and pop culture, which he is always ready to do. "Tonight, Washington puts the arts above politics, because no matter what party you belong to, everyone wants a selfie with Tom Hanks," he said. -
Bruce Springsteen Tribute Concert to air on PBS, Includes Covers by Neil Young, Elton John and John Legend [WATCH]
The tribute concert that took place for Bruce Springsteen's MusiCares Person of the Year honor in 2013 will air on PBS Dec. 9. Fans will be able to see Mumford & Sons, Neil Young and Elton John, among others, perform tunes by The Boss. Jon Stewart hosted the event, which will be broadcast as A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen. -
