  • Blake Shelton Plays The Whisper Challenge on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,' Doesn't Know Benedict Cumberbatch

Blake Shelton stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (Jan. 23) to promote his upcoming host/musical guest gig on Saturday Night Live. Fallon, of course, had something fun planned for the country superstar. The pair played The Whisper Challenge, where one player wears headphones blaring loud music and the other says a phrase for them to guess. The game's big reveal was that Shelton has no clue who Benedict Cumberbatch is.
  • Zedd Instagram Suggests More Than Professional Relationship with Selena Gomez; How Does It Effect Sales?

Relationship rumors between Zedd and Selena Gomez based on juicy Instagram photos may be causing us in the media to salivate but in the long run the effects of the headlines might do well for the EDM DJ as well. So far the only charts that can demonstrate the effect of the rumors is Billboard's Social 50 chart, where the German producer debuted this week at no. 40.
  • Louis Tomlinson's Tweet About One Direction Bandmate Harry Styles Surpasses Obamas as Second-Most RT'd Message of All Time

One Direction fans have always known how to make a lot of noise on Twitter - barely a day goes by without at least one 1D-related topic trending on the social media site. And now, one of Louis Tomlinson's tweets from 2011 has become the second-most re-tweeted message of all time, surpassing a big message from President Barack Obama.
  • Taylor Swift and '1989' no. 1 for Ninth Time on Billboard 200; Rae Sremmurd Debuts at No. 5 with 'SremmLife,' Only New Album in Top 30

Bet you can't guess what performer finished on top of the Billboard 200 this week! Taylor Swift and 1989? Okay, maybe it wasn't that hard to figure out. Although the album saw a big drop in terms of equivalent album sales (down to 155,000, the first time at less than 200,000 for the set), it still managed to take its ninth week at no. 1 since debuting 11 weeks ago. Ed Sheeran and Nicki Minaj still factor high.
  • One Direction, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead Managers Team Up To Demand More Control of Secondary Ticket Market

The secondary ticket market has always been an issue for rock bands, but it wasn't until the '90 when a major battle between Pearl Jam and Ticketmaster brought the issue to the national forefront.
  • Taylor Swift Tops Albums Chart with '1989' But Comes Up Short of Usher's Record; 'Guardians of The Galaxy' Leads Soundtrack Charge

Taylor Swift may have topped the Albums Sales Charts for the eighth time but her "low" week of 172,000 copies sold means that 1989 will not catch Usher's streak of 200,000-plus sales weeks that he set with Confessions during 2004.
  • Taylor Swift and '1989' Take Eighth Billboard 200 No. 1 Spot; Nicki Minaj Remains No. 2, 'Into The Woods' Soundtrack Gets Only Sales Increase

It's still cold out there for new music releases after the first full week of album sales during 2015, so it's not surprise that Taylor Swift was still on top of the Billboard 200 when today's numbers came out. It's the eighth week of ten that 1989 has been available where the record ended up on top, which makes it her second most-decorated album yet (Fearless spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at no. 1 during 2008-'09). It moved 244,000 equivalent albums last week.
  • One Direction Fans Attack Tribute Band One and Only Direction on Twitter After 'FOUR' Promo Photo

You do not want to mess with One Direction - even if you're trying to pay tribute to the "Night Changes" band - lest you feel the wrath of the rabid Directioners fanbase. And now, 1D tribute band One and Only Direction is getting the brunt of Twitter jokes and jabs after posting a FOUR-related promotional photo on Twitter.
  • Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith Lead 2014 UK Album Sales Chart Featuring Nothing But British Artists for First Time Ever

If you peruse Billboard's websites for the album charts from other countries you'll notice that very often foreign talent infiltrates the top spots. The Uk can proudly declare that during 2014, every single performer in its Top 10 for album sales was homegrown for the first time. Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith were among the bestselling musicians of the year in the UK.
  • Finnish Pop Star Isac Elliot Records One Direction Demo 'Just Can't Let Her Go' [WATCH]

One Direction fans heard the demo for "Just Can't Let Her Go," given the fan name at the time "I Just Can't Let Her Go," last summer and exploded in excitement. The minute and a half version that leaked out sounded rough but still kept fans satisfied for a brief moment until they received further world about "Midnight Memories." The song did not make the cut for the album, but apparently it was recorded by a teenage pop sensation from Finland named Isac Elliot Lundén, known professionally as Isac Elliot, via "Popcrush."
  • Taylor Swift No. 2 All Time for Weeks at No. 1 with '1989'; No New Albums to Interrupt Nicki Minaj, Pentatonix and One Direction Post-Christmas

Another week and another run at history by Taylor Swift: Her album 1989 managed to top the Billboard 200 for the seventh time during its nine weeks on the charts, selling 326,000 full copies and generating 430 multi-metric equivalent albums (MME's). That no. 1 spot moves her into second place all-time for women atop the Billboard 200 with 31 weeks at no. 1, trailing only Whitney Houston and her crazy 46 week total.
