Last week it seemed that compilations had reached a high point, taking both the now. 1 and 2 spots on the Billboard 200, but this week the music collections stepped it up a notch, adding spot no. 3 to the list. The last time the first three spots on the list were held by compilations was during 2009 when Now 30, Hannah Montana: The Movie and the original Twilight soundtrack held the positions. -

Next week, British DJ and entrepreneur Rob Da Bank will be signing a distribution deal to bring the UK's annual Bestival to other countries in Europe and the United States. -

We've gotten used to huge tracks such as Pharrell William's "Happy" and Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" topping the Digital Downloads chart for weeks on end but now we've had four different tracks on top for the last four weeks. This one may stick around however. -

Jessie J Sets High Mark with 'Bang Bang' Thanks to Help from Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj
The Digital Downloads Top 10 happens to be both opened and closed by a debut track this week. Leading at no. 1 with the second largest single debut of 2014 is Jessie J and "Bang Bang," which features help from Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. It sold 230,000 downloads, a total only surpassed by Grande's "Problem" for most debut downloads this year. That song, however, fell out of the Top 10 this week. Closing out this week at no. 10 was Maroon 5's "It Was Always You," which sold 95,000 downloads, not at all a bad start. -

Sam Smith Critiques Vin Diesel's Version Of 'Stay With Me' [WATCH]
Continuing his trend of politely engaging in bizarre, inexplicably music-related questions during his current Guardians of the Galaxy press tour, actor Vin Diesel treated Capital FM to a semi-karaoke rendition of Sam Smith's smash hit "Stay With Me." Though I personally thought that Diesel's take on the song was pretty cringe-worthy and nothing to be at all impressed about, Sam Smith apparently thought it was "amazing," and I suppose his opinion is more important than anyone else's. -

5 Seconds of Summer Breaks Numerous Australian Sales Records, Tops Billboard 200 with Debut Album
This week's Billboard 200 was all about 5 Seconds of Summer who surprised no one with its huge debut for its self-titled debut LP. The group outsold the rest of the Top 10 albums combined, moving 259,000 copies of its new record. That's also the third-highest debut of 2014 thus far, plus the largest debut ever for an Australian group since Soundscan began tracking the numbers during 1991. -
MAGIC! Holds Top Digital Downloads Spot with "Rude" while Sam Smith and Iggy Azalea Recover Spots
As fewer people acquire the music of MAGIC! by buying the band's debut album (which was released three weeks ago), the purchase of its hit single "Rude" has continued to add up. -
Weird Al and Viral Videos Power Way to Top of Billboard 200 over Jason Mraz and Rise Against

Sam Smith Stays Off Spotify and Ultimately Wins Over Lana Del Rey
Streaming has been the hot topic in the music industry and whether it can be utilized to revive sales and provide enough royalties to put food on musicians' tables. Many labels are hoping so, and although many held out in the early years of Spotify and similar services, they are now putting their roster's on streaming sites to promote publicity if nothing else. Capitol decided to try a different hand when promoting Sam Smith however and it seems to have paid off. -
Magic! and 'Rude' Appears at Top of Digital Downloads Chart Just Ahead of Florida Georgia Line's Hot 'Dirt'
Magic! and its hit single "Rude" saw a bit of a drop off last week, partially because the band's new album dropped, which removed downloads of the track attached to the record from the "singles" charts. However, perhaps thanks to a humorous parody video response that went viral this week, the track is back at no. 1 with more than 185,000 downloads sold. -
Sia Tops Slow Week on Billboard 200
This week was a relatively slow one on the Billboard 200, which allowed Sia to take the top spot for the first time in her career. We don't mean to suggest she didn't earn it: 1000 Forms of Fear sold 52,000 copies, the songwriter's largest sales week to date. However that was also the smallest sales week for a no. 1 in more than two years.
