  • The Brutality of The Bard: 2Pac, Dethklok and More Celebrate 'Talk Like Shakespeare Day'

Happy "Talk Like Shakespeare Day" to all of our favorite readers and theatre geeks. We at Music Times tend to write more about Broadway musicals, or the occasional opera based on one of William Shakespeare's works, versus the stage plays themselves (you know...we write about music). There's no denying that the legendary playwright has had an impact on music with his words...in the most brutal way possible. For all of his poetry, the Bard turned out enough gritty one-liners that would have made Robocop a Best Picture nominee without removing any of the bloodshed. Take heed as 2Pac, Iced Earth and more demonstrate how "talk like Shakespeare" means "talk like a badass."

  • Damon Albarn, Brian Eno and Africa Express produce 'Maison Des Jeunes' showcasing music of Mali

In case you haven't heard it from Lord Jamar recently, the roots of just about all Western music lies somewhere in Africa. That being said, listening to music produced by contemporary African performers can be an exciting shift from what you hear on typical Western radio. THAT being said, when the two sides combine, you get a musical supernova of sorts. Africa Express's forthcoming album Maison Des Jeunes promises to live up to our obviously excited description.
  • Whole Foods Capitalized on Vinyl Trend by Offering 12-Inch Records of Daft Punk, The Rolling Stones, and More

Whole Foods is already the hip place to buy food that's free of cruelty and genetic modification. So the question from a business perspective become, what products does the company try to stock next to appeal to its average customer. The answer seems to be vinyl records. Whole Foods announced this week that it would be stocking a select number of 12-inch LPs in a trial run at five of its California locations.
  • Johnny Marr: The Smiths Guitarist, Fresh Off His First Solo Album, Is Ready For Another, Plus Maybe Working With The Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Johnny Marr certainly won't be working with Morrissey anytime soon, and as a result it seems he's looking for other musicians to collaborate with in the near future. Among those possible partners Marr listed was The Vaccines guitarist Justin Hayward-Young and Yeah Yeah Yeahs axe-man Nick Zinner.
