Nine Inch Nails frontman and film composer Trent Reznor will turn 50 in May, and in a recent interview with Billboard, the singer reveals that it's a bit of a scary thing.

"It's with some sense of dread," he said about hitting the big 5-0. "I saw something on TV, 'If you're age 50 to 74, apply now...' -- I'm like, 'F---, I'm in that?'" That milestone age makes the singer a little weary of hitting the road with his band as hard as they're use to doing. "I don't see any full-fledged rock extravaganza happening maybe ever, certainly not for the next several years," he said. "But the idea of putting myself in something that doesn't feel as comfortable to me -- I feel confident I can do that, or until my body falls apart on me. Being onstage alone or with a string quartet, in a theater, it's not right around the corner, but..."

Next year could be another impressive year for Reznor. Nine Inch Nails could get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Reznor could score another Oscar with collaborator Atticus Ross for their work on David Fincher's Gone Girl.

Reznor went on to talk about his new gig at Apple, which back in August finalized its acquisition of Beats, where the artist served as chief creative officer. "Beats was bought by Apple, and they expressed direct interest in me designing some products with them," he said. "I can't go into details, but I feel like I'm in a unique position where I could be of benefit to them. That does mean some compromises in terms of how much brain power goes toward music and creating. This is very creative work that's not directly making music, but it's around music."

No specifics about the project were given, although it is in the "world" of music delivery.
