Just when it seemed that some of the dust had settled between Giuliana Rancic and Zendaya Coleman, we are learning some interesting new details about the relationship between the two of them. Rancic came under fire for making inflammatory comments on Oscar night about Coleman and quickly apologized for saying that her dreadlocks likely smelled like a mix of patchouli oil and weed. It seemed an odd shot to take at the young star, who has actually been a guest on Fashion Police on a few occasions and, of course, there was a bit more to it than it originally seemed.

Apparently, Joan Rivers really liked Coleman so much that the Fashion Police powers-that-be actually have entertained the notion of hiring her for a regular spot.

According to a report by Radar Online, "Zendaya had been a guest on the show several times and Joan really took a liking to her, so they brought her in to audition for Giuliana's position because Giuliana was unsure if she wanted to return to the show after Joan had passed away. Giuliana knew that Zendaya had been up for the role. It definitely seems like she had this in mind when she made the comments towards Zendaya," explained the source.

In the midst of all the turmoil, Kelly Osbourne officially quit the show a few days ago, which means they need to hire someone to fill her spot. Since Coleman has already auditioned and had Rivers's seal of approval -- something that seems to be important to her daughter Melissa Rivers, who also happens to be one of Fashion Police's producers -- wouldn't it be something if she was now in contention for the open spot? Rather than potentially replacing Rancic, Coleman would get to work with her. Can you imagine Rancic even pondering that idea?

So far we have heard names like Khloé Kardashian and NeNe Leakes being circulated for the spot, but what if Coleman's name is added into the mix? Wouldn't it be a crazy turn of events if a negative comment about her hair ultimately paved the way to a spot on the show? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
