Longtime daytime fans will be thrilled to know that an old favorite might be headed back to Salem just in time for Days of Our Lives's 50th anniversary celebration later this year. Peter Reckell has not only confirmed that he is in talks to reprise his role as Bo Brady but he has also asked his fans for their good thoughts to help make this return happen.

"We are talking again, trying to work out a deal for the 50! I need your love, support, and positive energy.!!!" tweeted Reckell.

The actor first arrived on the Days scene back in 1983, and for nearly the next three decades he was happily at work on the soap. He was last seen onscreen in October 2012, when the character of Bo left town without much attention or fanfare.

Reckell has spoken out about how he felt the fans were shafted because the writers never gave Reckell a proper exit, and it was a disservice to a character they had written beautifully for decades for.

Last October there were rumblings about Reckell possibly returning to the soap, and he made it clear on his social media that he was really hoping to return. Kristian Alfonso, who played his onscreen wife Hope Brady, said at the time that there was no real reason to bring his character back to the show at that point.

Since Days likes to celebrate occasions by having old favorites return, it is kind of a no-brainer that Reckell would be onscreen later this year.

Days fans have been pretty outspoken about missing the old characters who were woven into the history of the show and how they are not loving all the newer characters that flood their screens instead. Do you think that maybe Reckell's return might be for a bit longer than the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Days? Should it be? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
