Memphis Grizzlies star Matt Barnes is definitely having a rough week after being publicly embarrassed at the hands of "Nothing Promised" pop star, Rihanna. After weeks of rumors swirling around that were secretly dating, it appeared that Barnes had finally let the cat out of the bag as far as the two were concerned when he went on camera saying the two had a blossoming friendship. That was before Rihanna shot the rumors down completely with a scathing Instagram post indicating that the she was not dating the baller nor did she even know him. However, it looks like Barnes as well as his former L.A. Clippers teammate, Glen "Big Baby" Davis, responded to the rumors and pretty much indicated that Rihanna is not telling the complete truth when it comes to knowing him.

Barnes' public shaming at the hands of the singer and business woman is definitely one for the books. Not only did she imply that they weren't dating but she also indicated she did not know him personally. Au contraire! NBA baller Barnes begged to differ and implied that he does know Rihanna via an interview he had with host Jim Rome.

During the interview, when the subject of the R8 songstress came up, Barnes had the following to say on the matter of divulging his personal business to the public. "You live and you learn. When you're in a situation like this and, you know, you just learn. You just got to keep stuff to yourself obviously. But the way I'm putting it right now, I'm too grown to lie, you know what I mean. It is what it is, I'm going to let this blow by like everything else blows by."

Rome delved a little bit further and asked what his reaction was when he saw Rihanna's infamous Instagram post. "I just smiled. I just smiled, that's it. What can you do? At the end of the day we're all grown-ups. Like I said I'm too grown to be lying about stuff but life is life. You live and you learn".

His former Clippers pal, Davis, also went on record defending him on ESPN's His & Hers with hosts Jemele Hill and Michael Smith and insisted that Rihanna definitely "knows" Barnes and that she didn't need to publicly embarrass him in the manner in which she did.

Sounds like a case of he said/she said. Chime in with your thoughts below.
