Back in the '90s, Maxwell's debut album, Urban Hang Suite, was named as the biggest R&B record and now, the singer promised to release the second part of his BLACKsummers’night album, which was released in the summer of 2009, MTV News reported.

After seven years, the second part of the trilogy will be released just in time for the 20th anniversary of his debut album. The first single from the album is "Lake by the Ocean" and others included are "Orphan," "Hostage," "Three," "Listen Here" and "Lost," Pitchfork reported.

So, while waiting for Maxwell's new album, here are five songs that will surely make you feel more excited about the forthcoming release.

1. “Pretty Wings” could be one of the most notable songs from Maxwell. In the opening lines of the track, we hear lullaby notes with some bell chimes that add more excitement to it. It even has many poetic lines in it, like the phrase that asked if we know what “pretty wings” are.

2. “Bad Habits” features a lovely sound from a Spanish guitar. At the end of the song, it has a jazzy-Caribbean breakdown creating a pleasing mood that is also soulful. The love ballad begins with the sound of a wind chime.

3. “This Woman’s Work” is a song that is about one's yearning. Its instrumental is emotional and earnest. Overall, the song articulates heartache, especially when Maxwell ends it with, “Oh, darling, make it go, make it go away,” manifesting that he is stabbed with pain in the heart.

4. “Drowndeep: Hula” is rendered in a sexy and playful way that turned out blissful. It is even said that this song clearly features the lineage of R&B with a distant, layered gentleness in it.

5. “Playing Possum” features charming acoustic guitars with the musician's signature falsetto can be clearly heard. The singer's voice in this song is slow and sleepy to create a mournful ballad about being lovesick.
