The Flash's first live-action solo outing is getting one step closer to reality, as a draft of the movie's script has been reportedly completed. Next on the list is finding a director for the film, something the executives in Warner Bros are taking slowly but surely.

According to Screen Rant, the producers will be talking to different filmmakers for the "Flashpoint" movie. However, "Back to the Future" and "Real Steel" director Robert Zemeckis is currently the on top of the list, with DC bigwig Geoff Johns backing up the 65-year old filmmaker. Matthew Vaughn of the "Kingsman" movies and "Spider-Man" chief Sam Raimi were considered for the list as well, with Raimi opting out of "Flashpoint."

"The Lego Movie" and "Jump Street" tag team Phil Lord and Chris Miller were reportedly back on the list after leaving the "Flash" project some time back. While Lord and Miller are back with Warner Bros., they will, be working on a different DC project, "Artemis."

Sethe Grehame-Smith and Rick Famuwiya were also connected to the "Flashpoint" project at certain points. Both directors, however, have left the movie for different reasons.

On the other hand, some hints were dropped regarding the movie version of Iris West. While on the premiere of "Flatliners", Kiersey Clemons, who is set to play as West on the big screen, told Entertainment Tonight that Iris and Barry Allen, played by Ezra Miller, might not be on the same timeline. This plays on the idea that the "Flashpoint" storyline has the Scarlet Speedster going through different timelines and realities, with each timeline having a different story.

Originally appearing as a crossover event by DC in 2011, the "Flashpoint" storyline was previously made as an animated movie in 2013's "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox". The live-action adaptation of this story was announced in the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con.
