An OG Blink-182 reunion might not be a pipe dream anymore as Mark Hoppus voiced openness on what the rock band might be doing in the near future.

Last month, rumors of Tom DeLonge returning to the band resurfaced after his replacement, Matt Skiba, expressed uncertainty about his band membership.

But Hoppus almost directly debunked the emerging rumors, which coincided with the band's 30-year-anniversary.

Mark Hoppus 'Open' to a Blink-182 Reunion? The Truth Revealed

In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Metallica bassist Mark Hoppus detailed how his grueling cancer journey helped Blink-182 set up a long and overdue rekindling of their friendship with estranged members Tom DeLonge.

"It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in, like, five years. It's actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room," Hoppus revealed.

The visit he is referring to took place before he started his "brutal" chemotherapy. Mark Hoppus has been diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma but has been declared cancer free since September 2021.

Since he recovered, Mark has been spending much time in the studio, possibly penning the next Blink-182 hit.

"I keep writing music, and I'm open to whatever the next phase of Blink is. I'm hopeful for the future. I'm just d-n glad to be here," he furthered.

Although he did not specifically say that a reunion might be in the works, his openness for "the next phase" of the band is a clear contrast to how fans perceived his announcement earlier this month on the Tom DeLonge return rumors.

Mark Hoppus Crushed Blink-182, Tom DeLonge Reunion Rumors

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Tom DeLonge's Instagram account biography was updated, now including Blink-182 on his bands.

Rock music news outlets have picked up the speculations and suggested that a Blink-182 reunion might actually be in the works.

Furthermore, Matt Skiba, DeLonge's replacement in the band, fanned the rumors even more after expressing uncertainty about his membership in the band.

"your guess is as good as mine. Regardless, I am very proud of and thankful for my time w @blink182. We shall see..." Skiba replied to a fan asking why the band's social media accounts do not post photos of him with it.

However, the band's Instagram bio still includes Skiba, which meant that he was still in the band, not just prominently featured.
