Now that Meghan Trainor is making a comeback with her newly released album "Takin' It Back," she is also coming clean about the struggles with her body image as well as her mental health.

"I was my heaviest I've ever been, I was like over 200 pounds when I C-sectioned him out," she shared. "I just wasn't feeling great. I've never had stitches, so to have this C-section scar, I was in a really dark place and I wanted to be in a great place for my son."

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, the singer revealed that she lost 60 pounds after her pregnancy.

After coming to that realization, she shared that she decided to "make it her mission to feel better."

"So, I worked every day and challenged myself. I was like, 'If I can survive a C-section, I can do anything!'"

Prior to the birth of her baby in 2021, Trainor stepped away from the limelight for a while, releasing her first holiday album, "A Very Trainor Christmas" in 2020.

While she did not note how long she has been working on both her new album and her exercise routine, one can only suspect that the 28-year-old singer has been at it since last year.

"I was very dedicated and I started seeing the pounds come off like one week at a time, one pound."

Aside from exercise, she also learned a few things about herself along the way, like her preferences for food. "I learned that I do like healthy food and I learned what portions mean."

"I learned my brain is so happy when I exercise, so I'm just [feeling] better than ever," she added.

Learning To Love

Trainor has been very vocal about her struggles with her body image-after all, her breakout single "All About That Bass" is about embracing one's body type, especially if one is plus-sized.

"It was a song for myself about my body insecurities. I was already at a tough place with my body, especially being out in front of all those people and having them judge me," she said of the song.

"I'm covered in scars and stretch marks in new places I didn't know stretch marks could be. There's things that aren't going to go away ever, and I have to learn to love that," she shared.

Fortunately, for Trainor, she is now in a better mental state, and managed to pull herself out of the "dark place" for her and her baby's sake.
