Although the German singer became a popular name within the pop industry, her career was also met with criticism as many fans called her out for working with Lukasz Gottwald, popularly known as Dr. Luke, the record producer accused of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and more, by Kesha.

After moving to Los Angeles, California, in 2016 to focus on her music career full-time, Petras became a part of Prescription Songs, the imprint of Dr. Luke.

Recently, many fans were relieved as the embattled music producer isn't a part of the singer's latest single and it was the first track Dr. Luke wasn't involved in five years.

In an interview with i-D Magazine, the pop star credited Republic Records co-president Wendy Goldstein for her new era, saying she was the one who pushed her to write better songs.

As of this writing, Petras didn't reveal why she ended her professional relationship with Dr. Luke in her latest project.

Kim Petras' Previously Called Out by Fans for Working With Dr. Luke

In a previous interview with NME, Petras praised Dr. Luke, saying she was a big fan of his music and both of them write songs "very well together."

However, she clarified that she wouldn't work with somebody she believed to be an abuser of women due to Kesha's allegations.

However, many were disappointed that Petras continued working with Dr. Luke despite his issue, which prompted her to issue an apology to fans.

Even though she was open about her working with Dr. Luke, Petras said "that does not negate or dismiss the experience of others or suggest that multiple perspectives cannot exist at once. I didn't communicate this clearly in the past." (via Yahoo! Entertainment)

In other Kim Petras updates, the pop star didn't reveal the official release date of her upcoming album but revealed that most songs were from her sessions with Laurel Canyon.

"If Jesus Was a Rockstar" is now available for purchase and streaming on major music platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
