With Aaron Carter gone, his twin, Angel Carter, had to celebrate their birthday alone for the first time in her life, and she shared a heartbreaking post about her last conversation with the singer.

"I want to start by sharing how much I appreciate all the birthday wishes. While today is incredibly tough, I am overwhelmed by your love and support... thank you from the bottom of my heart," she wrote in an Instagram post.

She also reflected on the death of her sister, Leslie, in 2012, due to an overdose; it left Angel feeling "broken" and "confused," but over a decade later, she is facing another death in their family.

"It feels unfair... I feel too young to carry the weight of losing two of my siblings. When we lost Leslie, I was blindsided and shocked," she wrote.

"With Aaron, however, we had tried everything. In fact, I spoke with him two days before he passed, and I begged, once again, for him to let us help," she revealed.

"I did not know that would be the last time that I would ever hear his voice. And now, I sit here on our birthday, trying to navigate this unimaginable loss because of untreated mental illness and the addiction that it led to."

Today would have been the late singer's 35th birthday, but he met his untimely demise in his California home on Nov. 5.

According to several reports, Carter's cause of death is still not disclosed to the public, but many speculated it might have been related to his bout with mental illness and addiction, on the other hand, Carter's camp was adamant that the singer did not take his own life.

Regardless what really caused Carter's death, Angel still grieved, and wrote about how it felt to lose a twin.

"Aaron dying was the worst day of my life. I have loved him since we were born... it feels like a piece of my soul is gone," she continued.

"And yet, despite all this pain, his passing has lit a fire within me. I feel a calling and responsibility to help other families and continue the conversation to further break the stigmas that surround mental illness."

Honoring Aaron

According to reports, Angel and Nick Carter joined Lance Bass to honor their late brother by having a charity concert.

"And so, with the support of family and friends, we are planning a benefit concert to raise awareness for mental health, with 100% of proceeds being donated to On Our Sleeves," Angel wrote.

The concert, "Songs for Tomorrow", will be conducted in honor of the "Candy" singer, and tickets will go on sale soon.
