Travis Barker found solace after dating and marrying Kourtney Kardashian.

Barker and Kardashian strengthened their union by holding three wedding ceremonies after the Blink-182 drummer popped the question in October 2021. The couple is currently waiting for their little one to arrive between November and December.

Travis Barker Overcame His Fear Through Kourtney Kardashian

In his interview with the Los Angeles Times published on Sunday, October 29, Barker revealed that his wife helped him to fly again after surviving the tragic plane crash in 2008.

"I think the power of love really helped me," he told the outlet, saying that he thought he would never going to fly again. "Kourt made it so I fly, my kids fly now. She healed us."

Barker and his family found it painful and scary to get on an airplane. However, he now follows a ritual that keeps him calm and feels safe, including calling his father, his wife and his children.

The drummer also prays before a trip and listens to guided recordings through noise-canceling headphones.

"It takes a little piece of my life every time I fly," he continued. "The amount of stress and anxiety it causes is just unbearable. It brings up all this old trauma, and sometimes I'm like, 'Is this worth it?' But I don't like anything having a hold on me, either - I don't like being afraid, and I don't like having things from my past control my future."

Although he is still adjusting himself to traveling for pleasure via airplane, Barker found it as a positive sign that he began conquering his fears.

He notably flew for the first time since the fatal 2008 plane crash during a 2021 trip with Kardashian.

What Happened to Travis Barker?

The traumatic plane crash in 2008 left four people dead and others injured. Barker survived after he and his longtime collaborator DJ AM, born Adam Michael Goldstein, decided to jump off the plane via the emergency exit door.

He sustained third-degree burns in 65 percent of his body, he told Joe Rogan on "The Joe Rogan Experience." He underwent 16 surgeries and stayed at the hospital for more than 11 weeks.

"My whole body lit up. I had jet fuel in my whole body. I burped jet fuel for almost three months [later]," he said. "When I jumped into the jets, I started running... I was ripping off my clothes because that's what my instinct told me to do... but little did I know I was still on fire because I was soaked in jet fuel."
