There are few in the pop genre who devote as much time and energy to covering songs as Ed Sheeran.

The British hitmaker stopped by MTV Studios this weekend to perform solo in front of a live audience, and he busted out a unique version of Snow Patrol's 2006 hit "Chasing Cars."

Using a loop pedal to create harmonized backing voices and a steady guitar rhythm, Sheeran crooned over his sonic design while slapping the guitar to create a realistic drum beat.

Of course, he's already put his own spin on "Drunk In Love," along with several other hits, and fans usually get unexpected song choices when attending Sheeran shows.

Sheeran also recently announced that an unexpected collaboration with Game is basically finished.

"I'm a big fan [of Game]," Sheeran told The Source. "He called me and I ended up doing just one song with him and the next day he came down to the session that I was in and we did about six songs. Then we just did more and more as that week went on and then it was all done."

He's also rumored to be working with Florida Georgia Line. "We haven't discussed it further than a conversation, but it's something we both want to happen," he told USA Today.
