• Albums Sequels That Worked: Led Zeppelin, Lil Wayne, Future and More

    The average blockbuster is hardly an original concept...everybody knows that the big money lies in sequels, such as the newly announced follow-up to Jurassic World, or the seventh installment of the Fast & Furious series. Granted, most of the time these films rarely end up being better than the original franchise. Although Furious 7 bucks the trend (the films actually got progressively better thanks to more and more absurd stunts and car chases), many questioned the need for the reintroduction to the Jurassic Park universe, especially after the last two sequels fell flat with critics (then again...all three of the follow-ups to the classic original have been box office smashes...so we're all to blame). Albums often work the same way, but occasionally the later chapters outshine the originals, or at least match them. Here are six albums that were better than the preceding ones with similar titles.

    Today is national hot dog day, a celebration of perhaps the most American of food items, and a time for everyone to enjoy their "tube steaks" in whatever way they prefer (your correspondent, from Cincinnati, prefers his with chili, cheese and mustard). Although there aren't very many losers when it comes to eating hot dogs...there are plenty of losers when the food item gets tossed into music. Here are five examples of musicians failing to find musical inspiration in America's favorite pork byproduct, from Limp Bizkit to LMFAO.

  • Led Zeppelin Unveils Rough Mix of 'When the Levee Breaks' [LISTEN]

    In the midst of the career-spanning eight Led Zeppelin reissues and accompanying alternative mixes, it's a wonder there's still abundant bonus material left for fans to discover. "When the Levee Breaks" took to the dark side on the Led Zeppelin IV reissue but it seems they've been saving an alternative rough mix, "If It Keeps On Raining" for their final deluxe reissue of Zeppelin's concluding album, 'Coda.'

  • Louis Tomlinson, Lorde, Keith Richards and More Music Superstitions

    Mike Tyson and Joan Jett began an interesting interchange on this day 30 years ago: The rock star called the up-and-coming boxer before his bout with Larry Sims, whom Iron Mike would crush. Tyson saw the call as an omen of good luck, and insisted that Jett call him before every match for nearly five years. He finally broke the streak during 1990 before facing Buster Douglas...and ultimately lost the fight, a first for his career. The guitarist may not have been the superstitious one in this case, but plenty of musicians have their own good luck ceremonies before concerts.   • Led Zeppelin Guitarist Jimmy Page to Pursue 'New Project'

    The iconic guitarist mentioned a live return but stated that he first needed to get "match fit" before he could jump into performing again. Page spoke to NME, detailing his desire to perform live after finally having a clear schedule. "The one thing I haven't been seen to be doing recently is playing guitar," he said. "So now I've got the opportunity to put all my drive into playing the guitar and working out what way to present myself next."

  • Robert Plant To Headline 2-Night 2015 Lockn’ Festival

    Robert Plant is taking the Sensational Space Shifters along for a unique ride to headline this year's Lockn' Festival for two particularly unusual headliners. According to a press release, Plant is scheduled to perform on September 12 and 13 which will bring a special liberation of "two completely different sets" over the span of two nights. "Plant has never done anything like this in his career," notes the announcement, "and it will undoubtedly make for some unique and historical moments."

  • Led Zeppelin Share Unheard 'In the Evening' Rough Mix [LISTEN]

    Sad news for Zeppelin fans--July 31 will mark the last release date for the Led Zeppelin album reissues, spanning all nine of their unforgettable studio albums. The final three to be remastered by Jimmy Page himself are 1976's 'Presence,' 1979's 'In Through the Out Door' and 1982's 'Coda.' Each release features bonus material, alternative recordings and mixes of fan favorite tracks. Today, the band shared an unearthed and stripped down version of "In the Evening (Rough Mix)" off of 'Out Door' via Yahoo! Music.

    In just 18 days, Led Zeppelin managed to craft their entire 1976 studio album, 'Presence,' during their time spent in Munich. Throughout the recording process, the iconic rock and roll band made reference mixes of some tracks-five of which will be featured on the upcoming companion disc to the record's deluxe edition.

    There have been many feuds in classic rock history and at the very least, various artists who weren't afraid to speak what's on their mind. Lou Reed once explained he wasn't a fan of the Beatles while Rolling Stones band-mates Keith Richards and Mick Jagger have been known for taking shots at one another. This time, Cream drummer and founder Ginger Baker spews some negativity towards Led Zeppelin and heavy metal.

  • Reissues Available via Atlantic/Swan Song

    In June of last year, Led Zeppelin started their album reiusse operation spanning their career-wide discography. On July 31, the band will reissue their last three LPs, 1976's Presence, 1979's In Through the Out Door and 1982's Coda, as deluxe edition releases.
