• Coachella Tweets Drop 83 Percent During Weekend Two (Because of Nicki Minaj and DMX?)

Coachella's second weekend featured a massive drop off in social media mentions, despite being an easy sell-out, like the first weekend. Billboard reports that while 3.5 million tweets mentioned Coachella directly during the event's first rendition the previous weekend (with Nicki Minaj and AC/DC driving traffic), only 600,000 mentions went out over the past weekend. What's the story?
  • NBA Playoffs 2015: Ludacris To Introduce Players, Perform At Atlanta Hawks Game 2 Against Nets

It is April and that means one thing - playoffs. This month kicks off playoffs both for the National Hockey League and for the National Basketball Association. Both aren't immune to brining out the stars and celebrities to help garner some public support and put more people in the seats, though the NBA is much more prone to using this marketing technique (see the Celebrity game during All-Star Weekend). Despite having the second best record in the whole league, the Atlanta hawks still had trouble getting people in the seats on a nightly basis. They first called upon Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz for a day where he performed several times and introduced the players, while also creating some awkwardly funny online videos for the team. Now Ludacris has the honor of performing during Game 2 of their Hawk's series against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday in Atlanta.
  • Jack White Makes 'Six-Figure' Donation to National Blues Museum for Interactive Exhibit

Jack White caught flack when hacked e-mails revealed his distaste for the Black Keys allegedly ripping him off...so at least he's generous in acknowledging the musical acts from which he pieced to gather his signature style. The guitarist made a healthy contribution to the National Blues Museum, which is scheduled to open in St. Louis later this year. The organization told media that the dollar figure was in the "six figure" range.
  • TIDAL's Download Numbers Plummet While Pandora, Spotify Thrive

TIDAL continues to make headlines, but recently the tide has turned against the service that is perceived as elitist by many. With its starstudded launch, headed by new owner Jay Z, who was flanked by a who's who list of the biggest stars in music including Beyoncé, Usher, Kanye West, Daft Punk, Jack White and others, the service has amassed considerable momentum. According to a BGR report, new data shows that it has lost a lot of that in one key category - downloads. The app, which briefly cracked the top 20 of the Apple app store two weeks ago, now languishes out of the top 750.
