• Jury Selection Begins in Trial of Boston Marathon Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

Potential jurors first came face to face with Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in court this morning, Jan. 5. Within the next three days as many as 1,200 people will be called into federal court to be viewed as potential jurors. Only 12 jurors and six alternates are needed, but it will likely take a deep pool to find that many people have not already formed an opinion on Tsarnaev's involvement in the twin bombing and events shortly thereafter on April 15, 2013, which resulted in three deaths and injuries to 260 people.According to Yahoo News, Monday begins what will likely be a gruesome and difficult trial that will last for months. It was also only the second time in 18 months that Tsarnaev has seen the light of day."Appearing in court Monday morning for only the second time in 18 months, Tsarnaev, with a short beard and shaggy hair, was seated in front of the first 200 of 1,200 prospective jurors in the case who quietly stared at the suspected bomber as presiding Judge George O'Toole explained the selection process," said Yahoo."O'Toole told the jurors the trial is tentatively scheduled to begin Jan. 26 and is expected to last three to four months. As he spoke, Tsarnaev, who was dressed in khaki pants and dark sweater, stared mostly at the table, looking up occasionally at the judge and out towards the prospective jurors. He could be seen drumming his fingers on his chair underneath the table," said Yahoo.
  • Khloé Kardashian Insinuates That Kim Kardashian Is Already Pregnant

The trailer for the next season of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" first aired last night, and in it we see Kim Kardashian actively trying to get pregnant again. It looks like her quest for a second child with Kanye West will be a major storyline on the reality show and, following the teaser, Khloé Kardashian shocked fans with a post on her official Instagram account that was also quickly deleted. The pic posted shows a positive pregnancy test and Khloé asks fans who they think is pregnant, with the choices being her, Kim or their 18-year-old step-sister Kendall Jenner. The answer here would at least appear to be pretty obvious. In recent weeks, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Kim, and it has been widely reported that she was struggling to conceive. The star told her fans just last week that she is not pregnant.
  • Viacom Settles Class Action Lawsuit with Former Unpaid Interns at MTV and Other Holdings

Your correspondent got into the journalism game a few minutes too early. What was once an understood part of the journalism college curriculum, required internships that were more often than not unpaid, have almost been entirely done away with. If any employers are still hoping to get free work from wannabe university students, they might think otherwise after another settlement was made in a case where the aforementioned interns sued for violation of labor laws. Viacom just settled (in principle) a class action lawsuit regarding unpaid internships at its holding MTV.
  • In Spite of Scandal, Donald Trump Lets Us All Know How Cool He Still Thinks Bill Cosby Is on Premiere of 'Celebrity Apprentice'

Keshia Knight Pulliam found herself in the unenviable position of being the first person fired from "Celebrity Apprentice" last night, Jan. 4, and the reason she was cut so quickly is raising eyebrows this morning. The show was actually filmed in May 2014, several months before the sexual abuse scandal surrounding Bill Cosby would reignite and threaten to destroy his career. But it was because Pulliam did not call Cosby for a donation that she was ultimately fired and Donald Trump's support of the man was epic. The final few minutes in the boardroom were pretty awkward for everyone watching, as Trump grilled Pulliam on her choice not to reach out to Cosby."Did you call Bill?" Trump asked her."I did not," Pulliam said, crying. "I have not talked to Bill Cosby on the phone in I don't know how long. So for me to pick up the phone, having not talked to you for five years, except for when we run into each other for a Cosby event — I feel that's not my place to do.""I really believe, if you'd called that gentleman, he would've helped you, even if you hadn't spoken to him in years, because you were an amazing team with one of the most successful shows ever. So I think it would've been a very good call to make for charity. But you have to take responsibility. I think you agree with that," said Trump.
