Britney Spears is officially off the market once more. The "Perfume" singer confirmed the news that she was indeed dating Charlie Ebersol during Britney Day in Las Vegas yesterday, where she was given the keys to the city. "Yes, there is a special someone," she told Extra, "It's very new."
Ebersol is a writer, producer, and the son of veteran TV producer and Saturday Night Live co-founder Dick Ebersol. According to Billboard, the couple has been seeing each other for a few weeks, following Spears' split from ex-boyfriend David Lucado.
Although Spears hasn't given many details on her relationship, a source close to the couple told E! that the two met through mutual friends.
"He is the sweetest guy ever and they are very much enjoying getting to know one another," the source told them "They are both very happy and having fun. It's just the beginning so no idea if it will become serious but right now they are having a lot of fun together."
As E! points out, Ebersol has been romantically linked to Sophia Bush and Maria Sharapova in the past.
During her Britney Day press conference, the pop star spoke about her Piece of Me residency at Planet Hollywood, which she has been headlining for almost a year. She said she still gets nervous when other celebrities are in attendance.
"I think Jennifer Lopez came to one of the shows a couple of weeks ago," she told Extra. "I was extremely nervous."
Lopez is also rumored to be headlining her own residency at Planet Hollywood during Spears' off weeks. Spears' said the set up is ideal for mom's with kids.
"I would say it's an ideal situation to be here in Vegas and have a show," she said. "It's like a breath of fresh air. It's like a dream come true for me seriously. I'm in one location. I get to go back and forth. It's amazing and it's good for the kids too."
Due to incredible success, new 2015 dates have been added for Spears' Piece of Me Show, and tickets will go on sale this Saturday (Nov. 10) at 10 a.m. PT.
