Likely the most highly anticipated album in recent memory, Kendrick Lamar's follow-up to the critically acclaimed good kid m.A.A.d city has everyone buzzing and hungry for any information or piece of the effort they can get their hands (or ears) on. Although he's been plugging the album during his press appearances, he hasn't revealed many specific details. So when a rumored tracklist for the effort surfaced online, fans were dying to confirm its validity.

The 18-song tracklist surfaced in the form of a grainy photo which appeared to be the back cover art, marked with the appropriate TDE, Aftermath, and Interscope logos. It featured appearances from Dr. Dre, George Clinton, Ron Isley, Pete Rock, and Jay Rock and included previously confirmed tracks "i" and "King Kunta."

However, TDE CEO, Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, took to Twitter yesterday to clarify that the tracklist is, in fact, fake.

"yes the new album tracklist floating on the net is REAL FAKE ! LMAO ....dont believe the hype if it doesnt come from my page or kdot's #TDE."

Looks like we'll have to keep waiting to see what K. Dot has in store.

But in the meantime, Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg, who was given a short private preview of some of K. Dot's new material, assures us that the album will be great. He described the four songs he heard as "not anything like what you've heard from Kendrick before."

"If this album is anything like what I heard we are in for a treat," Rosenberg on an edition of The Realness last month. "Yes, Kendrick Lamar somehow has developed even more, gone to another level. He's talking about Black righteousness. He's talking about Africa. There's social commentary. There's all kinds of deep thoughts...There are deep thoughts throughout, however, it is upbeat music that is gonna thrive in the club and on the radio. However, just like good kid m.A.A.d city, you can hear there's no attempt to make club music."

For now, we'll just have to keep playing "i" on repeat.
