It's no secret that Justin Bieber went through a bit of a rough patch while growing up as one of the world's biggest pop stars. During that time of confusion and adolescent hijinks, it seems Bieber began turning his life around when he was baptized in basketball star Tyson Chandler's bathtub.

Hillson is an international, up and coming church that sparked the curiousity of celebrities like Nick Jonas, Kylie and Kendall Jenner and the "Sorry" singer since it was established in 2010. Pastor Carl, one of the church's main leaders has detailed the 21-year-old pop star's transformation from a low point in his life and how the baptism was for the better.

"This boy is 21. He's in a horribly toxic world," Carl said to Entertainment Tonight. "He is trying to do his best to figure this out. He has never been anybody but who he has professed to be, which is a work in progress."

The Pastor claims that the Purpose musician asked for a baptism because he wanted to know Jesus--making the Pastor more than happy to cooperate. "People say we cater to celebrities," Carl continued. "And I say, yes, we do. Celebrities deserve a relationship with God. Celebrities deserve a place to pray."

The press was eventually clued in on where the baptism would take place, which was initially planned to take place in a hotel pool. After scanning some options, it was decided to call upon New York Knicks NBA player Tyson Chandler to help the baptism run smoothly.

"I said, 'Bro, I'm in a jam here. I have JB with me, he wants to get baptized,'" Carl told Tyson. "He's like, 'Done. Easy.' After showing up a bit too late to Tyson's pool, they were forced to make do with an NBA player-sized bathtub instead.

This isn't the first time we've heard the Canadain singer talk about religion and his desire to be a little more Christ-like. "I just wanna honestly live like Jesus," the "What Do You Mean?" admitted in a October/November edition of Complex magazine. "Not be Jesus. I don't want that to come across weird. He created a pretty awesome template of how to love people and how to be gracious and kind. If you believe it, he died for our sins."
