Could the end really be here for One Direction? As the band embarks on its indefinite hiatus, new rumors have sprung that the "Perfect" boy band is really calling it quits for good.

According to US Weekly, 1D's remaining members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson will not be renewing their recording contract together. "The 1D thing just ran its course. They'll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers," a source close to the band reportedly revealed.

One Direction has released five albums in five years via Syco Records, which was founded by The X Factor's Simon Cowell. The band's last album, Made in the A.M., was released in November 2015.

So, what solo endeavors do the boys of One Direction desire? Reports have been widely circulating that both Styles and Payne are eyeing solo careers. Meanwhile, Horan and Tomlinson have been looking in to producing and songwriting. Tomlinson is also expecting his first child later this year with friend Briana Jungwirth.

One Direction's other founding member, Zayn Malik, left the band in March 2015 and is expected to release his debut solo album early this spring.

Despite these reports, 1D fans aren't necessarily buying the latest rumors that this break is a permanent one, however, citing plenty of false reports and word from the band itself that they will return.
