Allegations recently surfaced over the weekend that Joey Bada$$, real name Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, was arrested and charged with assault for punching a security guard at Falls Festival in Byron Bay, Australia. Scott has responded to the allegations on Twitter, asking fans to not "believe everything you see or hear."The crucification of my image has already begun. Bada$$ said boo-yah and assaulted the man. The alleged incident took place around 8:30 p.m., right before Scott's set time.According to a police spokeswoman via the "Sydney Morning Herald," "A 20-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face by a man while working as a security guard at the festival. The man was treated for a broken nose and other facial injuries."Bada$$ was arrested after his set Friday night, Jan. 2, and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He appeared in court Saturday and was released on bail. His next court date is March 19.Joey Bada$$'s camp released the following statement via "The Fader": "Joey can confirm that there was a misunderstanding with security at the Byron Falls Festival show, which resulted in charges being laid by NSW Police. After fully cooperating with Police, Joey was granted bail and entered a plea of not guilty to the charge." -

The soundtrack to the film features John Legend and Common's new song "Glory," which they performed today on Good Morning America to promote the film as part of the GMA Winter Concert Series. Legend handled vocals and keys supported by a string quartet, a timpani player, and three background singers. Common came in with some socially conscious verses referencing the unrest in Ferguson and the civil rights movement. Both men sported black suits as they delivered the gospel-tinged anthem, ringing in 2015 with a call for change. -

Viacom Settles Class Action Lawsuit with Former Unpaid Interns at MTV and Other Holdings
Your correspondent got into the journalism game a few minutes too early. What was once an understood part of the journalism college curriculum, required internships that were more often than not unpaid, have almost been entirely done away with. If any employers are still hoping to get free work from wannabe university students, they might think otherwise after another settlement was made in a case where the aforementioned interns sued for violation of labor laws. Viacom just settled (in principle) a class action lawsuit regarding unpaid internships at its holding MTV.
