• Ty Segall Shares Title Track from New EP 'Mr. Face' [LISTEN]

    Next week, Ty Segall will be dropping his new EP "Mr. Face," but today the California garage rock wizard has shared the EP's title track through the Famous Class Records Bandcamp page, which you can check out below. The sound of the track comes off as a cross between Segall's last two solo albums "Manipulator" and "Sleeper," being largely acoustic and percussion free — at least until the end — but definitely not mellow in any way.     After Yung Relle posted a video on Monday Bobby Shmurda declaring he was back, rumors began to swirl that Shmurda (born Ackquille Jean Pollard) had made bail and been released from custody. "I'm back, baby," Shmurda says in the video, captioned #MyBro Is Back, #DontTellNobody. Unfortunately for fans of the rapper, Riker's Island has confirmed that the Shmoney dance originator remains in custody at the NYC jail's West Facility in East Elmhurst, NY, HipHopDX reports. The misleading video was likely a shameless publicity stunt by Relle.

    It's still cold out there for new music releases after the first full week of album sales during 2015, so it's not surprise that Taylor Swift was still on top of the Billboard 200 when today's numbers came out. It's the eighth week of ten that 1989 has been available where the record ended up on top, which makes it her second most-decorated album yet (Fearless spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at no. 1 during 2008-'09). It moved 244,000 equivalent albums last week.

  • Did Diplo Post Jack Ü's EP Tracklist on Instagram?

    Diplo took to Instagram late last night, a medium where he likes to post bathroom selfies and videos and pictures of girls twerking and show pictures and the occasional important piece of information about his career. Delivering on an important piece of news, it appears the "Revolution" producer has uploaded the tracklist to the long-awaited EP from Jack Ü, his super duo with Skrillex.The EP includes their debut and only single thus far, "Take Ü There" featuring Canadian songstress Kiesza. Their rumored collaborations with AlunaGeorge and 2 Chainz are also included and were first previewed in the duo's Diplo & Friends mix.Fans have been waiting on an EP or album from the pair since they announced their collaboration back in 2013. 2014 saw Skrillex and Diplo tour and come together in earnest, making a big splash with their main stage set at Ultra Music Festival while doing select dates on the Mad Decent Block Party tour and a few select surprise shows throughout the year. They capped things off with a headlining show at Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve, a gig normally reserved for jam band heroes Phish.

A recent interview with Music Radar found guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thomson suggesting that the band would like to get back into the studio as soon as its current tour lets up, meaning a new album could be ready as early as late 2015/early 2016.

  • Float Away to Four Tet and Floating Points's 6-Hour Set at Plastic People's Closing Party [LISTEN]

    Friday, Jan. 2, sadly saw the last time the general public would come and party beneath the roof of beloved London club Plastic People. The nightclub made the snap decision to shut down after 20 successful and heralded years in business as one of the more highly touted establishments to support new, up-and-coming electronic acts. The last night was DJed by longtime resident Floating Points and London native Four Tet, who has been a staple at the club for many people. Floating Points was kind enough to upload their back-to-back set on SoundCloud where they spin all types of music from classic disco and classic rock to hip-hop and mellow house tracks, via "The Fader."The set does get a little distorted at times, but overall it sounds good and the full six hours is worth the listen.Floating Points attached a heartfelt thank you note to club owners Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakeile for believing in them and all the good times that were had there. London clubbing took a big hit to start 2015.

    Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter has a new compilation coming out later this year in the form of Smithsonian Folkways' Lead Belly: The Complete Collection. If one thing connects the traditionally black music forms of blues and hip-hop, it's that the performers of both tend to have huge back catalogues that ensure we'll never hear everything they've recorded. Thus the new five-disc collection will include 15 songs that never saw proper release, including a much-discussed narrative discussing Queen Elizabeth's 1947 wedding to Prince Philip.
