  • Katy Perry rides 'Dark Horse' to top of Digital Downloads chart, Aloe Blacc sees huge rise with 'The Man'

The Top 10 albums from last week might not have featured too many new entries, but the Digital Downloads Top 10 indicates that new players are looking to make a run at the top. The top six tracks are all returnees, but nos. 7-10 are all new from last week. We'll start with the old favorites for the sake of numerical ordering.
  • 'Frozen' soundtrack freezes out Beyoncé, Kid Ink debuts at no. 3 with 'My Own Lane'

This week served as another chance for 2013's biggest hits to spend another week in the Billboard Top 10 as only one new release managed to crack into the upper ranks of album sales. The albums that stuck around managed to make some marks however.
  • Canada sees increase in digital music sales; Eminem and Celine Dion top best-selling albums list

Music Times reported as the new year began that digital music sales had decreased for the first time ever in the United States...a fairly dire report. The good news however is that digital sales are up for our favorite neighbor up north, Canada.
  • Pitbull, Ke$ha and 'Timber' rule Digital Downloads again, A Great Big World and OneRepublic follow

Last week's Digital Downloads Top 10 (Top 50 for that matter) all saw an increase in sales thanks to the giving of iTunes gift cards, etc. during the holidays. That resulted in this week's inevitable drop off for all of the songs in the Top 10, which all saw a decrease in sales from last week. That doesn't mean sales were bad however: Five songs still broke 200,000 in total downloads, up from the typical two or three.
  • Frozen tops Billboard 200, dethrones Beyoncé and holds off Eminem

Temperatures have been cold across the country, and so have album sales. Due to the end of the year and the low number of new releases that comes with it, the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 features a slew of familiar faces, but at least the door opened up for a few hits from throughout 2013 to make a reappearance.
  • Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Luke Bryan top the bestselling albums list for 2013

Yesterday we reported the final weekly Top 10 albums sales list of 2013, but now we have a treat for you: The Top 10 bestselling albums of the year, as found by our friends at Nielsen Soundscan and Billboard.
  • Pitbull, Ke$ha, Eminem and Rihanna end year atop Billboard Digital Downloads chart

Music Times warned you that the final Digital Downloads' chart of the year would be chalk full of sales thanks to people cashing in on the iTunes/download cards they received for Christmas. And sure enough, it was a huge week. Every song in the Top 50 saw a sales increase, and 46 of those tracks saw rises of more than 100 percent (aka doubling in sales since last week).
  • Beyonce top charts third straight week, One Direction goes platinum, 'Frozen' soundtrack sets mark

Last week was the last for musicians to make a statement on the charts for 2013, and at least four albums left a mark during the closing moments of the year. Let's start with the notable accomplishers.
  • A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera top Digital Downloads charts for second week

The end of the year didn't bring any new albums to the Billboard 200 Top 10 this week, and the Top 10 of the Digital Downloads charts didn't bring too many fresh faces either.
  • Beyoncé, Garth Brooks, One Direction top Billboard 200 amidst no significant releases

The year is coming to a close, and that means you shouldn't expect too many new releases coming down the pipe. This week's Top 10 of the Billboard 200 didn't have any new entries, so expect to see some familiar names.
  • Eminem, Run The Jewels do their best to ruin Christmas with photos, video

Being Christmas and all, it's only natural that performers across the rap game broke out of their cynical fronts and delivered messages of hope and joy in order to celebrate the birth of Christ. Yeah, right.
  • Eminem, Janelle Monae, Haim Join Music Times' Top 10 Albums of 2013

As with any other group conversation between the writers of Music Times, the debate between what albums to include on the site's Top 10 of the year was less than professional. There was crying (Ryan Book), yelling (Nicole Oran), and even threats of violence (Caitlin Carter). Ultimately, after countless votes and demands for recounts, ten finalists were chosen. Check out the albums that we kept in the stereo throughout 2013, along with defenses from the staff writers that loved the most.
