  • Super Bowl's Most Shazamed Songs: What Commercial Soundtracks Got Most Interest? Car Commercials Do Best

    Advertisers paid more than $4.5 million per 30 seconds of airtime during the Super Bowl last night so they like to know that their wares get people's attention. One way to do this is to examine what soundtracks get Shazamed, or searched using music identification service Shazam. Last night's most Shazamed moments came during the halftime show (more on that later) but outside of that it looked like New York songwriter Marc Scibilia induced the most curiosity with his rendition of Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" featured during a Jeep commercial.

The "All of Me" singer is nominated at the Grammys and the Oscars, but those are only small fry compared to the audience Legend had to take on tonight: tens of millions of fans at Super Bowl XLIX. Ahead of performances from Idina Menzel and Katy Perry, Legend kicked off the music at the Seattle Seahawks-New England Patriots game by performing "America the Beautiful"

    It is a good thing Waffle House did not drop $50 billion on a Super Bowl commercial for Sunday, Feb. 1's big game, because the company got gobs of free publicity Saturday night, Jan. 31, when Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen strolled through its doors for a nice, late-night meal.

In addition to Drake, who appears on the lead single "Blessings," the album includes guest spots by Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, among others. It's currently available for pre-order as a 12-track standard edition or 15-track deluxe LP

    Even though the Oscars are all about the movies, the biggest night in Hollywood wouldn't be complete without a little bit of music. And for the 2015 Oscars, the entertainment is going to come from the Best Original Song nominees. Thus far, singles from the critically-acclaimed films Selma, Begin Again and Beyond the Lights will be represented.

Every one of the five tracks nominated for the Oscar—"Glory" by John Legend and Common, "Everything Is Awesome" by The Lonely Island and Tegan & Sara, "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" by Glen Campbell, "Grateful" performed by Rita Ora and "Lost Stars" performed by Adam Levine—all saw boosts in downloads following their nods last week, rising a total of 102 percent between them according to Billboard.

The academy has added to the performers list, giving the night a needed hip-hop and R&B flavor. Usher, Sam Smith, John Legend, Pharrell and Common are the new additions.
