• Watch This Heavy Metal Mash-Up of 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'

The Internet is at it again. A video surfaced recently that uses footage from the classic children's movie 'Mary Poppins' and syncs it up to some heavy metal. Best of all, the scene is of Poppins (Julie Andrews) and Bert (Dick Van Dyke) singing the movie's most famous song, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." The mash-up is a little weird at first, but you get used to it by the end.
  • Metallica's James Hetfield Talks About His Drug Addiction a

James Hetfield lived the rock 'n' roll lifestyle for much of his career as the frontman for Metallica. His drug and alcohol addiction reached a boiling point right around the time the band was documenting the recording process for their eighth studio album, St. Anger. Some Kind of Monster, which hit theaters in 2004, showed a band at a crossroads, and Hetfield, in order to save himself and his career, entered into rehab. In a new interview, Hetfield credited music as what helped save his life.
  • Kirk Hammett Books 3 Rock Superstars for 'Fear FestEvil' and None of Them Are From Metallica

Metallica's Orion Fest may not have succeeded on a financial level enough to justify future versions, but guitarist Kirk Hammett and his "Kirk von Hammet''s Fear FestEvil" will have a second run in San Jose during April. The thrash icon and horror movie enthusiast has announced a lineup for the three-day event, although the characters he's booked for a panel may be even more exciting than the confirmed musicians: Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 and Slash will all appear in speaking roles.
  • Metallica Post Studio Update: Band 'Rockin Along' on 'Death Magnetic' Follow-Up

Metallica's recent studio update was short, sweet and to the point. The boys took to Instagram to post a picture of Robert Trujillo recording some bass parts in a studio. The band is hard at work on the follow-up to 2008's spectacular "Death Magnetic" album, "NME" notes. The caption for Trujillo's photo fittingly reads, "rockin along." One member — Lars Ulrich? — even managed to sneak in some devil horns. That is how you know it is good.
  • Metallica's Controversial 'St. Anger' Rerecorded by Fans as Experiment

Let's get this out of the way: Your correspondent is a fan of St. Anger. Granted, that's relative term—Metallica hasn't put out a consistent, quality album since 1991 (aside from the excellent live set S&M—-but the more lo-fi, raw approach to the album helped me believe for a moment that the band hadn't become a shiny, arena act, even if it did headline arenas. A majority of the band's fans disagree with my analysis however, referring to St. Anger in the same light as Chinese Democracy, a massive disappointment. With that in mind, a trio of fans have gone about rerecording the entire album, produced in a way they feel will make it more appealing.

Sam Smith, Charli XCX, Jessie J, Bleachers, Tove Lo, Empire of The Sun and Echosmith are the latest performers to be added to the lineup as of Tuesday.
  • Ex-Metallica Producer Bob Rock Calls New Album 'Landmark,' but Won't Work with Them

The last time Bob Rock worked with Metallica was just after the new millennium, when he produced the recording sessions that eventually turned into the group's 2003 album "St. Anger." But he still counts the band as one of the best in the world, and thinks they have something special up their sleeve more than a decade later. "I think they've got a landmark record in them — and it's probably brewing right now," Rock told "The Eddie Trunk Podcast," via U-G. Since "St. Anger," Rock has worked on projects with The Offspring, Michael Bublé, 311, Bush and Nelly Furtado —among others — but he claims that few of them were on par with Kirk Hammett and Co. "I didn't do a lot of bands like Metallica after I did them," Rock said. "Why? This is as good as it gets; I'm with this. "I'm not going to mention names, but when I don't believe a guy, when I know it's bulls--t, I have a tough time. I've done records like that and they don't work for me." No matter how much time he spends apart from Metallica, Rock remains on good terms with them.
  • John Lennon or Paul McCartney? Metallica, Arctic Monkeys, Fall Out Boy and More Choose in Mini Documentary [WATCH]

On paper, it's a simple question -- John Lennon or Paul McCartney? For "Lennon or McCartney: A Beatles Documentary," Scared Goose Productions compiled answers from actors and musicians and it's actually much more complex. Aaron Bruno of AWOLNATION may have put it best when he said, "Well, that's like saying, 'Who do you like more, your mom or your dad?'" The video is jam-packed with celebrities and members of Metallica, Arctic Monkeys and Fall Out Boy, and they all weigh in on the question.
  • Reading and Leeds Gives Taste of 2015 Lineup: Metallica, Jamie T and Run The Jewels Scheduled to Perform

The UK got its first lineup announcement, of sorts, for the 2015 festival season as the organizers for the Reading and Leeds Festivals provided at least a small morsel of what to expect from the twin events during 2015: Metallica, Jamie T and Run The Jewels will be among the acts appearing at the events, which will take place between August 28-30, making this a rather early announcement. Glastonbury hasn't so much as played with our minds, although that event will take place nearly two months earlier than the Reading event. Get tickets while they're hot.
