• 'SNL 40' After-Party Included Prince, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney

NBC missed the best part of the "SNL 40" reunion show last night, Feb. 15: the after-party. Things were only heating up when the 3 1/2-hour comedy event wrapped up. Former cast members like Jimmy Fallon and some of music's finest gathered for an after-party at the Plaza Hotel to celebrate a little longer. Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney -- who were both a part of the "SNL 40" show -- and Prince performed, much to the delight of everyone in the building. The festivities died down around 4 a.m., "Consequence of Sound" reported.
  • Grammys '15: Prince Steals Show With Album of the Year Intro, Jumpsuit

Prince walked onto the 2015 Grammys stage with more purpose and swagger than any contemporary pop princess or rap genius sitting in the front rows of the Staples Center last night, Feb. 8. The "Purple Rain" singer was there to present the award for Album of the Year and stole the show with his orange jumpsuit and superb smirk. Prince was able to sum up the category and, for that matter, the current state of music while dropping an educational, political and cultural bomb in the process.
  • Grammys 2015: Beck Responds to Kanye West's Defense of Beyoncé

Beck, along with most people watching the 2015 Grammys, thought Beyoncé should have won Album of the Year for her self-titled release. Kanye West took the questionable route of jumping onstage during Beck's acceptance, but the "Morning Phase" singer was perfectly fine with it. West continued to be critical of the choice and Beck after the show, but the alternative singer-songwriter told E! that he understands the rapper's frustrations. He even paid West a few compliments.
  • Copyright Law May Allow Taylor Swift, Prince et al to Pull Covers from Spotify and Streaming Services As Well

Taylor Swift made headlines during the end of 2014 by pulling her catalogue from Spotify, preventing listeners from checking out her sick beats without shelling out for the song or album 1989. She's not the only one who's keeping their wares off of the streaming service and others like it...The Beatles and Apple Records have yet to release the band's discography to the service. Yet many fans know a loophole, if they're willing to ignore subtle differences in quality: There are covers of the songs on Spotify, performed by bands aiming to sound exactly like The Beatles. Perhaps not for long however, as the U.S. Copyright Office is looking to allow performers to prevent covers of their work from being streamed as well.
  • 10 Super Bowl Halftime Show Stages: Ranking the Platforms of Madonna, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and More

The Super Bowl Halftime Show often benefits from a great performance onstage. Sometimes. But knowing the much of the audio is prerecorded kind of takes some of the fun out of it. That's why more often than not our final verdict on the big game's big entertainment (especially in recent years) had revolved more around the stage-show than the music itself. Nothing is more important to a stage-show than a stage. Music Times went back and checked out the last ten Super Bowl performers and more importantly, what they were playing on, and ranked them accordingly (including Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Madonna and more). This isn't a ranking of the performances, but of the platform that held it.
  • The 13 Songs of D'Angelo's 'Voodoo': Ranked for its 15th Anniversary

In celebration of this incredible album, here are its 13 songs ranked, from weakest to best.
  • Blake Shelton Plays The Whisper Challenge on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,' Doesn't Know Benedict Cumberbatch

Blake Shelton stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (Jan. 23) to promote his upcoming host/musical guest gig on Saturday Night Live. Fallon, of course, had something fun planned for the country superstar. The pair played The Whisper Challenge, where one player wears headphones blaring loud music and the other says a phrase for them to guess. The game's big reveal was that Shelton has no clue who Benedict Cumberbatch is.

  • Prince Presents Common, John Legend Golden Globe for Best Original Song for 'Glory' from 'Selma' [WATCH]

Common and John Legend's moving tune "Glory," from the civil-rights film "Selma" took home the Golden Globe last night, Jan. 11, for Best Original Song. Prince was on hand to deliver the award to the delight of pretty much everyone in the crowd. The pair beat out artists like Lana Del Rey, Lorde and Patti Smith in the category. It is hard to say who received more applause: the winners or the presenter. Prince showed up almost out of nowhere and the crowd lost it — Louis C.K. and Channing Tatum went hard at whistling for the rocker. Common and Legend deserved this win. Their masterful song about the struggle for racial equality resonates now more than ever. "The first day I stepped on the set of 'Selma,' I began to feel like this was bigger than a movie," Common, who also has a part in the film, said. "As I got to know the people of the civil rights movement, I realize I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter killed on the front lines of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand but instead was given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers murdered in the line of duty." "We still are in solidarity with those who are out there fighting for justice right now, and we're so grateful to write this song, hopefully, as an inspiration to them," Legend added.
  • 6 Artists Who Have Written Entire Albums for Other Artists

As a solo artist, writing an entire album's worth of songs for yourself can be a daunting enough task, but these artists found themselves so overflowing with creativity that they managed to write entire albums (or very close to it) for other artists, and in most cases, produce the albums as well.
  • 10 Best Late-Night Performances of '14: Ryan Adams, Bobby Shmurda, Kendrick Lamar, More [WATCH]

The late-night performance has become a rite of passage in recent years for up-and-coming bands. For more established acts, it is a chance to play some songs from a new record. There is no denying that the moves made in 2014 in the late-night realm affected the quality of the performances. David Letterman is retiring in May, so he has just been enjoying it all — he really dug Ryan Adams. Jimmy Fallon took over "The Tonight Show," which meant The Roots adding their Philly funk to acts like Bobby Shmurda. And Stephen Colbert ended his tenure on "The Colbert Report" recently, wisely booking Kendrick Lamar for his final week. The last year was filled with great performances that may have been on past your bedtime. Here are a few of our favorites.
  • 6 Biggest Drops in Quality Between Albums

Following up a great album is always a daunting task for a musician, and though plenty of artists managed to do this successfully, (Radiohead's Kid A, Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet), many others have fallen completely short. Here are six of the biggest drops in quality between albums.
  • Prince Shares Lyric Video For "Anotherlove" From Recent Album 'Plectrumelectrum' [WATCH]

Although Prince attempted to remove himself and his music from the Internet a few weeks ago, the legendary artist is apparently still using the web to promote his latest albums Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum. Today (Dec. 23), the Purple One has premiered the lyric video for his Plectrumelectrum track "Anotherlove," an amped-up cover of Alice Smith's song from her 2013 album She. The video combines plenty of swirling psychedelic imagery with clips from Prince's recent performance on Saturday Night Live with his new backing band 3rdEyeGirl, and in true Prince fashion, all of the lyrics on the screen are written in his signature shorthand ("4" instead of "for," "2" instead of "to," all that jazz).
