  • Steven Tyler Announces Solo Country Album at Grand Ole Opry Show

    If there weren't rumors for months, this announcement would almost sound like an April Fools' Day joke... but, really, Steven Tyler will be releasing a solo country music album. Last night (March 31) the Aerosmith frontman and former American Idol judge unveiled his official intentions to tap into country music for a new LP.

    Aerosmith's Steven Tyler has been hinting for awhile that his next solo album would be a country effort. The frontman, according to Billboard, is expected to sign with Scott Borchetta's Big Machine Label Group following months of recording in Nashville. An insider told the publication that the deal is scheduled to go down sometime "before the summer."

    Blake Shelton pulled double duty on last night's Jan. 24 episode of "Saturday Night Live." The host performed in a few sketches that poked fun at his country side, "The Bachelor" and his coaching gig on "The Voice" before taking the stage to perform "Neon Light" from last year's "Bringing Back the Sunshine." Shelton, one of the more humorous celebrities on the NBC singing show, was a good sport with all the jokes.

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler stopped by, and the whole event was hosted by Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, who has been in control of the show for the last few years. Carrie Underwood, Hunter Hayes and Lucy Hale all contributed songs.A few of the highlights from the show came in the form of duets between artists of the country persuasion and guests from other genres. Tyler and Paisley teamed up for a revved-up version of "Run, Run Rudolph" that showcased the country star's guitar chops.
