Is Phil Collins dead months after announcing his retirement due to health issues?

Collins worried fans as his shocking health problems caused him to have a frailer look during his shows months ago. He sparked more concerns when he remained seated throughout the setlist of his performance with Mike Rutherford and Rony Banks at their show in Berlin, Germany.

But most recently, fans suggested that the beloved drummer was already dead after death news emerged.

MediaMass first shared an article about a June 2022 report claiming that the musician had already passed away. It quoted a Facebook page's post that read: "At about 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday (June 21, 2022), our beloved singer Phil Collins passed away. Phil Collins was born on January 30, 1951 in Chiswick. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page."

Meanwhile, a Reddit user shared on the website that they thought Collins died a few months ago.

Phil Collins Is STILL Alive

Collins' fans immediately dismissed the claims, saying that there were - indeed - photos of him showing how bad he was looking in the past months.

But one clarified, "He's alive but in really rough shape, it's a real shame when you go back and watch old shows he was an amazing drummer, love genesis."

Indeed, Collins is still alive and fighting for his life despite the health issues that he publicly shared.

For what it's worth, the drummer restricted himself from headbanging and moving back and forth on the stage just months after disclosing his declining health. This explained why he remained seated during his performances before announcing his retirement.

He disclosed his status during an interview on "BBC Breakfast" in September. At that time, the singer said he had been physically challenged to the point that he could barely hold a stick with his hands.

It is rooted in the spinal injury he sustained after the repeated damage to his vertebrae. He explained that his vertebrae were crushing his spinal cord due to the position he followed whenever he drummed in.

"Somehow, during the last Genesis tour, I dislocated some vertebrae in my upper neck, which affected my hands," Collins said. "After a successful operation on my neck, my hands still can't function normally. Maybe in a year or so it will change, but for now it is impossible for me to play drums or piano."

With that, it is safe to say that Collins has been bombarded with health issues, but he remains alive as of press time.
