Nelly and Ashanti were one of the biggest powerhouse couples in the early 2000s. Their chemistry was off the roof, but it seems like it's still there, despite several years after their breakup.

During Power 98.3 and Power 96.1's "Under the Mistletoe" concert in Glendale, Arizona, fans could not take their eyes off of the pair as they performed their 2008 song, "Body On Me."

Ashanti took the lyrics seriously as she began grinding on the rapper, while the rapper danced along with her.

Fans took videos of the interaction and took to social media to beg the pair to rekindle their relationship.

"They need to just get back together bra," a fan wrote.

"The chemistry don't die," another pointed out.

Another fan even compared the relationship to other celebrities who got back together, "If Ben and J Lo can get back together and get married 18 years after breaking up, then there is hope for them. Never say never."

Some even poked fun at Nelly's reaction after Ashanti danced on him, "[Nelly's] face priceless. Ashanti [knows] what she doing and I'm not mad at her."

Second Chance?

Nelly and Ashanti rose to prominence around the same time, and they ran in the same circles, so it was no surprise when they finally met.

According to reports, the relationship even seemed serious enough for the rapper to consider proposing to the singer.

In an interview with Rap-Up back in 2010, he said, "I'm not a person that wants to get married more than once. If I'ma do it, I'ma do it. You're dying if you leave me."

However, in 2014, they reportedly split for good after an on-again, off-again relationship, and Ashanti hinted that Nelly "betrayed" her.

"I think sometimes when people have their own insecurities it allows them to act out of character. I've been betrayed," she said.

It surprised both Ashanti and the fans when Nelly attended Fat Joe and Ja Rule Verzuz at Madison Square Garden's Hulu in September 2021.

The rapper gave her a hug, which caused many to speculate if there is a chance that the pair will rekindle their relationship.

Ashanti was quick to shut it down, though, "Listen, there's nothing happening. Now look, this is the crazy part. I had no idea he was gonna be there, and I haven't seen him or spoken to him since we broke up."

Over a year later, the pair reunited again, but this time, they are both single, which has prompted fans to call for a reunion, but as of this writing, neither artist has addressed the fans' cries.
