Alan Jackson does not want his major health problems to affect his music career.

Amid his health issues, Jackson pledged to fans he would make music more for them. He revealed that he still has been scribbling down lyrics and thinking of melodies, so he could still release new music soon.

He detailed more about his current condition during a recent interview with his daughter Mattie Jackson on her podcast "In-Joy Life." The 64-year-old country star hyped fans as he said he would continue releasing songs in the next few years.

"Well, yes. I would hope so," he said. "I mean, I may not have toured much, but like I said, the creative part jumps out every now and then. I'm always scribbling down ideas and thinking about melodies and I feel like there'll be some more music to come, yes."

Jackson sparked retirement rumors when he announced his Las Call: One More for the Road Tour. But far from what the 2022 tour title implied, he clarified that he would still be up to creating new music even if touring slows down for him one day.

For the country singer, continuing to write helped him stay interested in singing. He explained he would have gotten bored a long time ago if what he only did was to let his voice out.

Jackson has not released an album or single since his 2021 21-track album, "Where Have You Gone." But with his announcement, fans can expect to hear more from him soon.

What Is Alan Jackson's Illness?

Jackson spoke about his diagnosis during an interview with TODAY's Jenna Bush Hager in 2021. The singer revealed that he had been reluctant to share details about it, but he braved himself and shared his Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease diagnosis.

According to Jackson, CMT is genetic and he inherited it from his father.

National Health Service's official website explains that CMT is an inherited condition that mainly damages a person's peripheral nerves. People diagnosed with it suffer from muscle weakness, gait, and numbness in the feet, hands, and arms, among others.

CMT also affects his balance and movement in the past years. Thus, Jackson reportedly became more conscious of himself and his surroundings due to fear that he might lose his balance, especially while performing.

The disease, on the other hand, is not fatal but can bring effects that muscular dystrophy and Parkinson's disease cause to patients.
