Chris Brown's new album X is less than one month away, and to help promote the record, the "New Flame" singer has finally released the record's title track. Today (Aug. 22), Brown premiered "X" on SoundCloud, an attitude-fueled R&B song that alternates between a smooth, sensual single and a hard-hitting jammer.

"X" may as well be titled "ex," with Brown singing about a relationship he needs to quit. "If you're only as good as the company you keep / Then Imma blame you for what they say about me / When I was by myself I was fast asleep / Since you came around, I been up for weeks," Brown croons at the beginning of the track, over a stripped down, piano heavy musical melody.

Brown keeps with the smooth fueled R&B vibes, keeping things tender until a build in the bridge, which finds him soaring to new vocal heights. Immediately after the chorus when he boldly declares "I swear to God, I'm moving on" and then an EDM and bass heavy beat drops.

"X" is hard when it needs to be hard and soft when it needs to be soft. The song blends together several modern pop styles, creating one ultimately pleasing roller coaster musical ride.
