"He doesn't inspire me actually, because I could never write the kind of words he does," he explained. "But he's helped me out in trying to write about two or three words 'cause I got a thousand songs that will never be finished."

Hendrix shared that he would always lie around and write two or three words. Due to his thoughts, he never tried asking Dylan to guide him through songwriting.

Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan Never Collaborated

Hendrix only met Dylan once before his death. Despite that, he expressed his wish to collaborate with him and play some sessions behind the legendary musician.

A collaboration between them could have led to a historic song. However, Dylan had already changed his path and focused on electric when Hendrix commented on their potential collaboration.

Still, fans noted that Hendrix not finding Dylan's music inspiring enough probably moved them away from a possible collaboration.

It never happened after Hendrix tragically died on Sep. 18, 1970. Before his passing, he was already showing deteriorating health due to his battle with influenza while dealing with exhaustion from work.

Two days before his supposed 28th birthday, his girlfriend Monika Dannemann. found him dead in her apartment at the Samarkand Hotel.

The autopsy revealed that "Hendrix aspirated his own vomit and died of asphyxia while intoxicated with barbiturates."
