Willie Nelson started his two-day birthday bash this year.

The famed country singer has been one of the iconic singers in the outlaw country genre. He also expanded his career as an actor and activist.

Willie Nelson's Age, Birthday

Born on April 29, 1933, in Abbott, Texas, Willie Nelson marked his 90th birthday during the star-studded Hollywood Bowl on Saturday.

Presented by Ethan Hawke, the two-night celebration serves as "a celebration of love - love of music, love of storytelling, and love of Willie Nelson... an American icon." Jennifer Garner, Owen Wilson, and Helen Mirren also presented the first night before the second event happens Sunday.

The first night welcomed renowned musicians to the stage, including Snoop Dogg, Tom Jones, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, George Strait, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Warren Haynes, and Jack Johnson, among others.

For Sunday's event, Gabriel Iglesias, Woody Harrelson, and Chelsea Handler will be the presenters. Meanwhile, Wayne Payne, Emmylou Harris, Buddy Cannon, The Avett Brothers, Orville Peck, Booker T. Jones, and Dave Matthews - to name a few - will perform on stage.

Willie Nelson's Health Issues

In the past years, Nelson has been displaying a strong and healthy physique. However, the singer has already suffered different health issues in the past years, with his emphysema diagnosis even leading him to cut back on his touring schedule.

In 2019, Nelson canceled some of his shows due to a breathing problem. He learned that he had a lung condition, called emphysema, which affected his capacity to breathe the way he used to.

The singer also struggled with back problems and collapsed lungs. He also underwent hip replacement surgery.

Will Willie Nelson Retire?

Despite his age and several health problems, Willie Nelson always assures fans he will not retire as he wants to continue performing.

He once joked about retiring every tour, adding that he finds himself ready to perform again after "quitting" for a moment. In fact, he previously announced his upcoming Outlaw Music Festival Tour which will start in June.

Nelson also revealed in an interview with Parade that he is not worried about his last days and wants to enjoy his good life instead.
