Josh Homme revealed how his health affected the release of the upcoming Queens of the Stone Age album.

Queens of the Stone Age are gearing up to release their first album since the 2017 "Villains." The music project, titled "In Times New Roman..." will be out on Friday, and the pre-order website remains open before its official arrival.

Josh Homme's Health Diagnosis

Homme spoke about the personal matters he faced that affected his band's schedule, including his health issue.

In an interview with Revolver, the Queens of the Stone Age frontman revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 years after he and Brody Dalle divorced after 14 years of marriage.

According to Homme, his health and personal issues he has ultimately hindered the recording process of his band's upcoming record. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic also contributed to the lengthy preparation.

"I think this is the first time I didn't want to make a record, but I was dealing with a lot of stuff in my personal life," he said. "We recorded a lot of stuff. I think I was doing it because when I'm in trouble, this is what I do. This is where I go to get right."

The frontman did not detail what kind of cancer he was diagnosed with. However, he revealed that he underwent a successful procedure to remove the affected part and started his recuperation.

Homme opened up about cancer being the "cherry on top" of an interesting time period in his life. While he does not know whether things will get better or not soon, he expressed how thankful he is that he will get through it.

In addition, the singer shared how the experience could help him improve as he does what he always wants to achieve.

Josh Homme Ready To Tour With Queens of the Stone Age

After the release of Queens of the Stone Age's album, the band will start the North American leg of its 2023 tour.

Earlier this month, the group shared a press release confirming that Homme, Jon Theodore, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman, and Troy Van Leeuwen will come together to start the trek, which they called End Is Nero Tour.

The upcoming tour, per Pitchfork, will reportedly allow the band to "celebrate the end of the world, which we hear is in a month or two."

The show will begin at the Southside Festival on June 16 and end at the Aftershock in Sacramento, California on Oct. 8.
