Calling all Barbz! Nicki Minaj will be hosting and performing at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards for the second consecutive year.

A new set of artists was also added to the already star-studded roster of performers for the upcoming live show of the MTV VMAs.

Nicki Minaj Hosting The VMAs

MTV announced that Nicki Minaj will be hosting and performing at the upcoming 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Sep. 12, 2023, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

It is the second time that Nicki Minaj has been hosting and performing at the MTV Video Music Awards since last year. In 2022, Minaj hosted alongside LL Cool J and Jack Harlow. She performed a nine-song medley before receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, including her biggest hits - "Super Bass," "Anaconda," and "Super Freaky Girl."

This year, Minaj will be performing "Last Time I Saw You," her newest single, as she will be flying solo to host the event.

However, Billboard noted MTV's use of words in their announcement - "Minaj will announce the show's star-studded lineup of performers, presenters and winners" - referring to Minaj as an "emcee."

Although it might be a nod to her being an "MC" or a rapper, it seemed to be that she would be hosting it like last year. Comedian Russell Brand was the last artist who hosted the show for two consecutive years from 2008 to 2009.

Nicki Minaj has been nominated this year for six categories- Best R&B for "Love In The Way," Song of the Summer for "Barbie World," Best Visual Effects, Best Hip-Hop and Video of the Year for "Super Freaky Girl." She's also nominated for Artist of the Year.

To date, she has seven moonmans including her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award that she received last year.
