Comics and Music: Eminem, Prince, KISS and More Make Guest Appearances with Superman, The Punisher and Others
Run The Jewels gets the honor of having its logo and album art inspire two covers for new issues of 'Howard The Duck' and 'Deadpool.' A few performers—including Eminem, Prince and KISS— have done even better than that, starring as heroes in their own narratives, or helping out established superheroes. -

Society always celebrates the records that top the Billboard 200 album chart. Back of The Billboards is a Music Times weekly segment that looks at the opposite end: the new record that finished closest to the back of the Billboard 200 for the previous week. We hope to give a fighting chance to the bands you haven't heard of. This week we look at Ludacris' new EP 'Burning Bridges' and its lead-up to a new album during 2015, 'Ludaversal.' -
Marvel Comics News: Run The Jewels Lend Artistic Influence to Upcoming Issues of 'Howard The Duck' and 'Deadpool'
Run The Jewels is far from the best-selling hip hop act from the last two years. Despite that fact, they're potentially the most culturally relevant at the moment, thanks not only to the critical acclaim that's been brought down upon its self-titled debut from 2013 and Run The Jewels 2 last year, but also the group's recognizable logo: A pair of amputated hands, one holding a chain and the other making a gun. That sort of recognizability has gotten them an honor that many an emcee can't claim: a Marvel comic book cover. -

Izod Center—Longtime New Jersey Staple of Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and More—to Close in March
It's almost a story out of a Bruce Springsteen song: All the jobs are going elsewhere and the town begins to die. The "town" in this case is the Izod Center at the Meadowlands complex in East Rutherford, one of The Boss's favorite concert joints in his home state. A rash of competition in the region, from the Newark Prudential Center to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, have begun swallowing up both music and sports events. Now Governor Chris Christie is pushing a plan to close the arena in March. -

Metallica's Controversial 'St. Anger' Rerecorded by Fans as Experiment
Let's get this out of the way: Your correspondent is a fan of St. Anger. Granted, that's relative term—Metallica hasn't put out a consistent, quality album since 1991 (aside from the excellent live set S&M—-but the more lo-fi, raw approach to the album helped me believe for a moment that the band hadn't become a shiny, arena act, even if it did headline arenas. A majority of the band's fans disagree with my analysis however, referring to St. Anger in the same light as Chinese Democracy, a massive disappointment. With that in mind, a trio of fans have gone about rerecording the entire album, produced in a way they feel will make it more appealing. -
Album Sales: Taylor Swift and '1989' Border 4 Million Overall, 'Guardians of The Galaxy Awesome Mix' Continues Solid Sales
Once again the actual album sales were a near clone to their cohort the Billboard 200 this week, with some subtle reorganizations going on. Taylor Swift was at the top with 1989 once again, selling 111,000 copies of her album. Just last week she had her first slot with less than 200,000 in sales for 2015's bestselling album and now it looks like she may drop below 100,000 next week. On the plus side, Swift is at 3.94 million total units moved for the album, meaning it will most likely reach quadruple-platinum in the next seven days. -
