Björk to Release 'Björk: Archives' Book to Coincide with MoMA Exhibit
To coincide with her upcoming MoMA career retrospective, Björk will be releasing a book titled "Björk: Archives," which will take a look back at the Icelandic singer's career and offer exclusive essays, poetry and artwork. According to i-D, the book will cover Björk's "seven major albums" — which presumably does not include her 1977 self-titled debut or her film soundtracks — and will explore "the personas surrounding each through poetry, academic analysis, philosophical texts, and stunning visuals." Among the contributors to "Björk: Archives" are film directors Spike Jonze and Chris Cunningham, as well as Icelandic poet Sjón and musicology professor Nicola Dibben. The book will also include portraits of Björk by Nan Goldin, Juergen Teller, Arakia and Inez & Vinoodh and will feature photos from some of the singer's famous costumes, designed by Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Sophia Kokosalaki. Four booklets will be released with the book as well as a poster featuring the artwork of all seven albums being covered.
