    There's no denying that American Idol has been able to make some major stars throughout its 13 seasons. From Carrie Underwood to Kelly Clarkson to Adam Lambert, the reality competition has been a major launching pad for the U.S. music scene in the last decade. And now, following the premiere of American Idol's 14th season, Forbes has released its annual list of the top-earning alums from the long-running program.

    Kelly Clarkson is now based in Nashville, and the "Since U Been Gone" singer has been recording for most of the year in the country-music hotbed. "I'm obviously affected by the community I live in. So there's a little bit of everything." Clarkson has done recent live duets with Trisha Yearwood ("Silent Night," "Prizefighter") and Reba McEntire ("Silent Night," "Because of You"), so it is not far-fetched to think that she has been influenced by some of Nashville's best. In jest, she compared the new LP to an all-time U.K. classic. "It's amazing, and you're gonna love it," she said. "Personally, you're gonna be like, 'This is right on up there with John Lennon's 'Imagine.' Guaran-d--n-tee it!"

One of those recruits was Country Hall of Famer Dolly Parton, who Clarkson contacted at the behest of her husband.

The Miracle on Broadway concert occurred Saturday, Dec. 20, in Nashville with Meghan Trainor, Brooks & Dunn and Martina McBride. It raised $200,000 before Brooks and Yearwood matched that total, bringing the sum to $400,000, the "Tennessean" reports. "I figured if I got [McEntire], everyone would have to say yes," Clarkson said about her mother-in-law. "I've never asked an artist to do anything other than sing with me, which a lot of people say no and it hurts my feelings, which is OK." Kacey Musgraves and Paramore's Hayley Williams were also on hand. Dolly Parton had a scheduling conflict, but she promised to be there next year.
