  • 'Jive Talkin'" and Beyond: The Bee Gees No. 1's of The '70s

It was a dark day for fans of rock music on August 9, 1975, as the Bee Gees' "Jive Talkin'" would be announced as the no. 1 song on the Hot 100. It was the group's second no. 1 hit in its then-14-year career but it was the first that could be classified as "disco." Things would only get better/worse (depending on who you are) from there on out, as the Gibb brothers would become the biggest names in the genre's short history, releasing another seven no. 1 hits before 1980 struck. These are those tracks.
  • Michael Jackson Did Not Write 'The Simpsons' "Do The Bartman"(?)

A piece of pop culture kinda-history has died as authoritative proof has come out revealing that no, Michael Jackson really did not write The Simpsons' classic "Do The Bartman." Original songwriter Bryan Loren (whose name has been on the track the whole time) sold off his publishing rights to the song, as well as a number of his other compositions. Considering the lawsuits the Jackson family has been bringing against AEG, you can bet they'd stick their legs out if there was a chance Jacko's estate should be getting royalties for "Bartman."

  • Mariah Carey, Madonna and TLC: The Longest Hot 100 Streaks of 1995

TLC celebrated the beginning of its longest streak on the Hot 100 on this date 20 years ago, as "Waterfalls" topped the singles charts for seven weeks afterward. Now, the Hot 100 is different than the Billboard 200 in that it's rare for any one album to top the chart for more than a few weeks, while songs can rack up huge runs on their chart. For example, only two albums have been at no. 1 for more than one week during 2015 (Taylor Swift's 1989 and Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly), while Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" has ruled the Hot 100 for 14 weeks thus far (the other 14 weeks have been split between Swift and Wiz Khalifa). Five songs managed to stay at no. 1 for seven weeks or more during 1995...so at least 35 of the year's 52 weeks were owned by just five songs. Check out the playlist of '95's most popular tracks.
  • Bobbi Kristina Brown's Cousin Insists Her Near-Drowning Was Intentional Act

Just when things seemed to be calming down between both sides of Bobbi Kristina Brown's family someone had to go and stir the proverbial pot all over again. Just last week, we learned that Pat Houston has now been named a co-guardian of Brown along side of her father, Bobby Brown. This move seems to make a lot of sense, especially when you take into account how Bobby's decisions seem to be very rooted in the hope that a miracle will save his daughter rather than in the reality of her condition. Not long after a sense of balance was put into place, Jerod Brown, Bobbi Kristina's cousin, started making allegations against Houston.
