It must be pretty "nerve-wracking" to have Diana Ross as a mother-in-law, especially when you're a singer yourself. Just ask Ashlee Simpson, who shared what's it like to play music for the vocal icon.

During her appearance at the "Jennifer Hudson Show," the "Pieces of Me" singer shared her experience with playing music for Ross: "I think it's nerve-wracking at first playing music for anyone when it's new, but definitely her."

"You're like, 'Oh, please like it.' Definitely butterflies." she continued but added that Ross isn't as scary as she had initially thought. In fact, the "I'm Coming Out" singer is more than welcoming and helpful.

"But she's such a wonderful mother-in-law. She's very encouraging, and she definitely helped us on the album too."

Simpson married Ross' son Evan Ross back in 2014, and the couple is eight-going-nine years strong.

Their solid relationship has been seen time and time again not only through social media posts of their happy family, but as well as through their reality show "Ashlee + Evan."

Happy Family

Although it's been more than a decade since the release of her last studio album, "Bittersweet World" in 2008, Simpson has expressed her interest in returning to the music scene.

"I keep saying, 'I'm coming out with an album, I'm coming out with an album,' and now I have to," she told Hudson. "But then I keep having babies!"

The singer shares two children with Ross, Ziggy, and Jagger; as well as her son, Bronx, whom she shares with her ex-husband Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy.

Simpson also shared her love story with Ross, whom she was very good friends with for quite a long time before they got into a romantic relationship.

"I was like, 'Oh my God, Mom, I made out with that guy!'" She said. "His pick-up line was that he thought it was so sexy that I was a mom.

"And now it's like, he's my soulmate, he's my best friend. It just doesn't get better."

According to US Weekly, Simpson was first publicly spotted with Ross in 2013, but they did not launch their relationship until a little bit later into their romance.

Even before they got engaged, Ross was already set on marrying Simpson: "I'm so in love and we've got amazing things going on. And we inspire each other. So it's cool. She's the one."
