The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" has been officially streamed 4 billion times and it is the first song to achieve such a tremendous feat!

Despite being snubbed for a Grammy Award (even a nomination), "Blinding Lights" is perhaps one of The Weeknd's most iconic and popular songs of all time.

The Weeknd 'Blinding Lights' Achieves 4 Billion Streams

Spotify revealed that The Weeknd's "After Hours" lead single, "Blinding Lights," has achieved a streaming milestone - it has become the first song ever to reach 4 billion streams on the platform.

Released in 2019, "Blinding Lights" spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and it became the first song to remain on the Top 10 of the chart the entire year.

Billboard reports that "Blinding Lights" has officially dethroned Chubby Checker's "The Twist" as the No. 1 Hot 100 hit of all time, topping Billboard's Greatest of All Time Hot 100 chart.

The publication also noted that The Weeknd is the first artist to hit 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify in February 2023, and is currently the No. 1 artist today with 113 million monthly listeners.

"Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran is in the second spot with 3.7 billion streams, while "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi comes in third with 3.151 billion. Post Malone and Swae Lee's "Sunflower" is ranked fourth with 3.103 billion streams, and "Dance Monkey" by Tones and I comes in fifth with 2.972 billion streams. The Weeknd's "Starboy" is sixth with 2.951 billion streams.

The success of 'Blinding Lights' is a prime example that nothing connects people more than music. It's an exceptional song in a class of its own."

As for Abel, he was very humbled to learn that his song, "Blinding Lights," is the most streamed song on Spotify.
