• Robert Plant Praises Phil Collins for Encouraging His Solo Career After Led Zeppelin's Split

Robert Plant recently revealed that after John Bonham's death and Led Zeppelin's split, there was one musician who really helped jumpstart his solo career. Genesis drummer/singer Phil Collins gave the vocalist some much-needed encouragement to break out as a solo act. Plant has now been recording music as a solo artist for more than three decades and he has been quite successful. After Zeppelin disbanded, Plant did not know how to start over, but other musicians were ready to play with the popular singer, Blabbermouth notes."I made my business to go out and start again at the age of 32 — it's, like, hysterical, really, when you think about it now," he said. "But I worked and worked with these guys — Robbie Blunt, who was a particularly fine guitarist. And I was graced by my first two solo records 'Pictures at Eleven' and 'The Principle of Moments.' A drummer contacted me and said, 'I love Bonham so much I wanna sit behind you when you sing. It was Phil Collins. His career was just kicking in and he was the most spirited and positive and really encouraging force, because you can't imagine what it was like, me trying to carve my own way after all that."
  • Two More Women Join Defamation Lawsuit Already Filed Against Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby may actually be playing a few gigs in Canada this week, but back in the States his sexual assault scandal just got a little messier. For weeks now various women have come forward to accuse Cosby of drugging and then either assaulting or raping them once they were incapacitated, and finally the comedian decided to start fighting back. He hired investigators to dig up dirt on anyone making accusations, and he has also taken direct aim at any woman brave enough to publicly accuse him of wrongdoing. A defamation suit was filed against Cosby weeks ago by one of his alleged victims, Tamara Green, and now two more names have been added to that suit.According to a report by Page Six:"The amended complaint was filed Monday[, Jan. 5,] in U.S. District Court in Springfield, in western Massachusetts, where Cosby has a home in Shelburne Falls."Cosby is the only defendant in the lawsuit, originally filed last month by Tamara Green, who said he drugged and assaulted her in the 1970s. The two new plaintiffs are Therese Serignese, who said he drugged and raped her in 1976, and Linda Traitz, who alleges he tried to drug her and then sexually groped her in 1970."Attorney Joseph Cammarata, who represents the three women, said the civil action allows them to have their allegations heard since criminal statutes of limitation have expired."
  • Are These Three New Katy Perry Songs?

All has been quiet on the Katy Perry music front lately, but it appears that something has been brewing in the "Dark Horse" singer's lab of late. As to be expected with any large pop star, there have been rumors and plenty of speculation from die-hard fans, but nothing concrete as of yet. That seems to have changed. According to the résumé of decorated mixer Serban Ghenea via "Popjustice," there are three new Katy Perry songs that he has worked on, titled "She's So Creepy," "In Flames" and "Heartache Crusade."Check out his résumé in the document here and skip to Page 4 of 23 to see the evidence. Ghenea has mixed for artists like Keith Urban, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Kesha, One Direction, Rihanna, Usher, Katy Perry and more. He has worked on just about every big pop star of the past 15 years in music. The song "She's So Creepy" could be throwing shade at Taylor Swift and would bring their public tiff to a new level from the occasional comment and social media jab into discographies. Katy Petty would be pulling a Taylor Swift by writing a song about an enemy. The irony.
  • NBA Star with $44 Million Contract Reportedly Doesn't Want to Play Basketball Anymore

The world of professional sports often revolves around the following phrase: "It's a business." The constant travel, practice grind and lack of longterm security can suck the fun out of anyone's career, so it is no wonder there are excellent pro athletes who no longer play "for the love of the game."The current pro sports climate is such that when Milwaukee Bucks star Larry Sanders — who is slated to make $44 million over the next four years — reportedly told his team that he is tired of playing basketball, those who criticized him were not appalled at his lack of drive but rather the bad business decision he would be making by backing out of his contract.A player who quits in the middle of a contract is rare, but not because he or she loves the game. It is because they are leaving loads of money on the table and forging ahead with a bankroll that statistically has a good chance of drying up within the decade.Gery Woefel of the "Racine Journal Times" broke the Sanders story Monday, Jan. 5:Sources tell me that Bucks center Larry Sanders recently told some Bucks officials that he doesn't want to play basketball anymore. — Gery Woelfel (@GeryWoelfel) January 5, 2015

  • Manhunt Underway for Two Suspects Who Shot and Wounded Two NYPD Officers in the Bronx

The New York Police Department cannot seem to go more than a day without grabbing another negative headline one way or another. Sadly, on Monday night, Jan. 5, two plainclothes officers were shot while responding to a robbery call shortly after their shift had ended. The two, along with three other officers, thought they spotted the suspects who were connected to a Bronx grocery store robbery. When they got out of their vehicle, a shoot-out began with both officers ending up with injuries that are not life-threatening. There is currently a manhunt underway for both suspects, who stole and later ditched a white Camaro. While everyone is relieved that these officers have a good prognosis, this is just another dangerous incident to end up on top of the pile. After two Brooklyn officers were assassinated while having lunch in their patrol car a few weeks ago, it changed everything for the NYPD. It had previously felt as though Mayor Bill de Blasio had abandoned them by allowing protests to take place all over the city following the news that there would be no indictment in the chokehold death of Eric Garner. The NYPD feels that rather than working together for the safety of the city, he and City Hall instead made things more difficult.Once those two officers were killed, the NYPD started protesting de Blasio by turning their backs to him, and it has been downhill from there. Now with two more officers down, the NYPD still does not feel support from City Hall and believes that de Blasio helped add additional strain to the divide between protesters and police. Another double shooting was the last situation that either side needed to have to face now.
