  • Run the Jewels to Work on 3rd Album in January, Collab with Zack de la Rocha

One of the most welcome surprises on "Run the Jewels 2" was the guest appearance of former Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha on the track "Close Your Eyes (And Count to F--k)," but according to RTJ producer El-P, that was not the first time he and de la Rocha had collaborated, and it apparently will not be the last, either. During an in-store event at Rough Trade East in London, according to "NME," El-P revealed that he and de la Rocha worked on music together as far back as 1999 and have plans in the near future to continue that work. "In 1999 I spent a month in my apartment in Brooklyn with Zack de la Rocha just before he split Rage Against the Machine, working on music that will never see the light of day," El-P said. "I can't speak about his future but I will say that I'm going to L.A. to spend another month with him in January." Though it was widely assumed that the break-up of Rage Against the Machine in 2000 would signal the start of de la Rocha's solo career in hip-hop, he has yet to release a solo album, or a full-length album of any sort since Rage Against the Machine's final LP "Renegades."
  • Wiz Khalifa Shares New Track 'Simple Conversation' Featuring Bankroll, Reese [LISTEN]

Wiz Khalifa has dropped a new track through his Soundcloud called "Simple Conversation," which you can check out below. The Sledgren and Rick P-produced track features some sinister low end rumbling with electronic beats skittering across the top, while Bankroll and Reese stop by to lay down some verses. The whole thing is more intense and energetic than anything else we've heard from Wiz this year.
  • Ludacris Shares New Track 'In My Life' Featuring John Legend From Upcoming 'Burning Bridges' EP [LISTEN]

After previewing his new song "In My Life" through a series of Instagram clips on Monday (December 8), Ludacris has unveiled the entire song, which you can check out below. The song, which is thankfully not a Beatles cover, features some lush, jazzy production, with John Legend providing the soulful hook, and though it's not as silly and outrageous as Ludacris's previous hits, it does show some remarkably maturity from the 37-year-old Atlanta rapper.
  • Lorde Shares Clip Of Old Song 'Lost Boys' Cut From 'Pure Heroine' [LISTEN]

Lorde is currently hard at work (we hope) on her new album, but today (December 10) the 18-year-old Kiwi pop star shared a clip of a song through her Tumblr that she probably won't be releasing officially any time soon. The song, titled "Lost Boys," was written and recorded in 2013 for her debut album "Pure Heroine," but was ultimately cut from the album because "it was not a good song," at least according to Lorde.
  • Jessie J Shares 'Masterpiece' Music Video From Latest Album 'Sweet Talker' [WATCH]

British pop star Jessie J has shared the music video for her single "Masterpiece," which you can check out below. The video opens with Jessie waking up in her bedroom (complete with some hilariously unsubtle Beats product placement, because this is 2014) and follows her over to a photoshoot in Los Angeles. By the video's end, however, Jessie is partying out in the streets with a huge crowd of her fans, who are all singing along to the song with her.
  • Chief Keef's Album 'Nobody' Drops Next Week, Will Feature Yeezy

Chief Keef may have had a rough year, being dropped by his label Interscope in October, but he is planning on closing out the year with a bang by dropping his sophomore album "Nobody" next week on Tuesday, Dec. 16. No big announcement was made concerning the album's release — rather, "XXL" reports that the album simply appeared as a pre-order on iTunes today, Dec. 10. "Nobody" features 12 tracks with only two guest appearances: Tadoe, who appears on "Oh Lawd," and Kanye West, who appears on the album's title track, which was originally previewed in August. There is still no word yet as to the status of Keef's long-awaited "Bang 3" album, which was promised for release as far back as March 2014, but still has not arrived. It is not clear if "Nobody" is a replacement album or if Keef still plans on releasing "Bang 3." You can pre-order Chief Keef's "Nobody" from iTunes here. • Jonny Greenwood Shares 'Spooks' from 'Inherent Vice' Soundtrack [LISTEN]

Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has shared a song from the soundtrack to the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson film "Inherent Vice" titled "Spooks," which you can check out below. The song was written by Radiohead and made its live debut in 2006, but besides Greenwood this new version features no other members of Radiohead. Instead, Supergrass members Gaz Coombes and Dany Goffey appear on the mysterious, noir-inspired track with Joanna Newsom providing spoken word vocals — she also provides the narration for "Inherent Vice." You can check out Radiohead's "Spooks" — performed by Jonny Greenwood, Joanna Newsom, Gaz Coombes and Dany Goffey — here, via "Stereogum":
  • Kendrick Lamar Guests On TDE Boss Punch's New Song "25" [LISTEN]

When he's not busy running Top Dawg Entertainment, Terrence "Punch" Henderson drops some songs of his own, and they're quite excellent. His latest track "25" is a refreshingly laidback ode to resisting the temptations of gang life when growing up in the projects, complete with soul samples and jazz flutes (sounds like they got Ron Burgundy on this), but most excitingly, the track's vocal hook is provided by none other than his label's flagship artist Kendrick Lamar. Apparently Kendrick didn't want anyone to know it was him, though, since he's not credited in the song's Soundcloud page.
  • Smashing Pumpkins's Next Album May Be Their Last

Billy Corgan might think that The Smashing Pumpkins are a better band than Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters — and he is right, by the way — but the Pumpkins might not even be around much longer. According to a recent interview with "The Wall Street Journal," Corgan hinted that the next Smashing Pumpkins album, "Day for Night," could well be the last. "The next album is like the end, end, end," Corgan says when discussing his "psychic impression of the future" in terms of new Pumpkins albums. "The trite way to say it is I'm over rock 'n' roll. Which is strange because rock 'n' roll is getting back into me." If Corgan were to end the Smashing Pumpkins after the next album, it would not be the first time the band — "project" is a more appropriate word at this point — has fallen apart. The Pumpkins initially split in 2000, but reunited in 2006, though guitarist James Iha and bassist D'arcy Wretzky chose not to participate. Corgan is currently the sole original member of the band and the only official member at the moment other than rhythm guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
  • Death Grips Share 'Inanimate Sensation' Music Vid from Upcoming 'Jenny Death'

Even though experimental hip-hop group Death Grips broke up in July, they still have yet to release "Jenny Death," the second half of their double album "The Powers That B." Today, Dec. 10, however, they have shared the first track from Jenny Death, titled "Inanimate Sensation," along with its unusual music video, which you can check out below. The entire video is bizarrely shown through a crashed jumbotron lying in the middle of an empty basketball stadium and features images of Death Grips frontman MC Ride — occasionally wearing huge googly eyes — rapping the song intercut with psychedelic, computer-generated visuals. As for the song itself, "Inanimate Sensation" is a sprawling six-minute track with typically abrasive and unsettling electronic production and should satisfy Death Grips fans while simultaneously horrifying everybody else. You can check out the music video for Death Grips's "Inanimate Sensation" here:
  • Billy Corgan Trash Talks Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters On 'Howard Stern' [LISTEN]

Billy Corgan's opinion of himself and Smashing Pumpkins has rarely been anything less than stellar, and during his appearance on The Howard Stern Show this morning (Dec. 9), he made it very obvious how much better he thinks the Pumpkins are than their '90s alt-rock peers. Expanding upon his recent statements that he and Kurt Cobain were their generation's "top two scribes," Corgan dissed the songwriting of two rock titans: Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters.
  • Belle & Sebastian Share Music Video For "Nobody's Empire" From Upcoming Album 'Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance' [WATCH]

Scottish indie pop outfit Belle & Sebastian have shared the music video for their latest single "Nobody's Empire," which you can check out below. The video, directed by Blair Young and frontman Stuart Murdoch, features footage from the cover photoshoot for the band's upcoming album Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance, with model Tamzin Merchant lip-synching the lyrics, intercut with home movies submitted by fans and stock footage taken from the Scottish Screen Archive and the Prelinger Archives.
  • DJ Premier, Royce Da 5' 9" Announce PRhyme North American Tour [FULL SCHEDULE]

According to Billboard, "PRhyme: The Tour" kicks off on Feb. 18 in Baltimore and finishes up on March 19 and 20 at Austin's South By Southwest Festival. • Ty Segall Announces New EP 'Mr. Face,' Released As A "Playable Pair Of 3D Glasses"

California garage rock extraordinaire Ty Segall has announced a new EP titled Mr. Face, which is set for release on Jan. 13 through Famous Class Records (that's the cover artwork up above). Though Mr. Face contains only four tracks, which could easily fit onto one record, the EP will be released as a double seven-inch, and is being billed as "the world's first playable pair of 3D glasses," which you're supposed to hold up to your eyes while you look at the record sleeve (as Segall helpfully demonstrates with this animated GIF over at Pitchfork).
